Halloween is just around the corner, y'all. I have decked out my kitchen with some budget-friendly Halloween decor...including an easy glitter pumpkin banner, a simple centerpiece, and bats galore!

I have two main areas of my kitchen that I like to decorate seasonally. One is my built-in hutch that houses all of my vintage jadeite-colored dishes. The other is my coffee bar (AKA, the hardest working spot in our home). I swung by my local 99 Cents Only store and found EVERYTHING I needed for fun and budget-friendly Halloween decor. There is always something new and exciting at the 99. You never know what you'll find when you "do the 99" (shop at 99 Cents Only Stores)! Our new Indoor Herb Garden is housed in our sunroom for year-round enjoyment. While it's just a "starter garden" at this point, I anticipate upsizing it down the road and enjoying fresh herbs for years to come. Come see how we put this together below...it was a fun family project.

Since moving to our new home last year, we've missed our herb garden we had at our previous place. It was actually a series of whiskey barrels with basil, rosemary, thyme, and mint spilling out...and it was wonderful. I'd send the kids out with a basket and scissors to grab fresh herbs for dinner. I also became the crazy herb lady that brought baggies of our bounty to everyone she knew...we always seemed to have a bumper crop of mint and rosemary! 

We've finally figured out a way to create an herb garden over here...and this time it's inside (so we *hopefully* won't have to replant every single year). Come check out this lovely (and tasty!) addition to our sunroom.

This Fabric Travel Tissue Holder is my all-time my favorite thing to sew. It makes a wonderful gift and is tidier than the traditional plastic travel tissue holder (mine always collect debris and get crumply my handbag). I made these with a fun back-to-school look, so they are perfect teacher and friend gifts as school starts back up.

My kids start school Monday...it kind of feels like we're the last district to be starting school this year. But, the summer has been really great...and nice and long, too. We're getting the house in order for school to start in a couple of weeks. But gosh...all of the homework was online textbooks, or printouts, or something involving a computer. We grabbed a great HP laptop for him, and it's worked great. As we head into this year, we've equipped him with the matching printer. But since it's technically for the family to share, we put together a DIY Mobile Printer Station to make it easy for everyone to use in their own work spaces.

It's almost the time of year to start bringing out the heavier drapes and linens...my favorite! Today, I'm sharing some of the tricks I use to store away my out of season linens...so they're a breeze to pull out in the spring and put back into place. 

I'm a little over-the-top about my drapes and tablecloths. I mean...we all have our quirks, right? While most of the drapes in our home stay in place year round, I try to change out the two sets in my front windows. These particular sets of drapes show from the exterior of our home and also do double duty in terms of efficiency for our heating and cooling systems. In the cooler months, I hang something heavier in these two spots...it helps keep out the cold. In Texas, that means we barely have to turn the heat on all season. I also like the look of a heavier fabric with my holiday decor, too. I'm sharing below how to store linens...so they're ready to go the next time you'll need them.

I alternated the lining and outer fabrics on each pencil pouch to make them even more fun. Honestly, I couldn't stop making these, so I just reversed it to keep things interesting. Our older son's room is finally done. It's road trip, season, y'all! My favorite kind of road trip is the kind where I come home with a truck load full of JUNK (honestly, is there any other kind of road trip?). I often get asked my favorite junkin' and antiquing spots. I have five (give or take) in the central Texas area that I hit regularly...because they are absolutely fantastic and well-stocked. So, if you're heading southbound on 35 (just like Pat Green, wink), veer off a little before Austin and check out my favorite shops.

While there are several BIG shops that are very well known, some of the places I'm lettin' you in on today are hidden gems. I am more of a grittier junker. I do love the big ol' silos in Waco that everyone flocks to this area to see...but y'all, it's not true junk. It's new junk. And I want original beat-up, been-through-the-wringer, honest-to-goodness, 100-year-old junk-junk. And I know so many of you are like me, so buckle up, y'all...it's time for a junkin' road trip.
