Laundry Symbols Chart Printable

This post for a Laundry Symbols Chart Printable contains affiliate links. As an Amazon Affiliate, I make a small percentage when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

Originally, I was just creating the simple Laundry Symbols Chart for today. But, it looked lonely when I hung it in my own laundry room, so I added in the coordinating Premium Self Service design, too. Both of these printables are available with or without the florals. And they'll both look lovely in your laundry space, too.

Laundry Symbols Chart
Well, today's laundry room printables were completely inspired by this week's deep cleaning of my own laundry room. I rearranged things, took old stuff down, and thought I needed something a bit more laundry-related, decor wise. So, I put together the Laundry Symbols Chart (because we all need one of these handy laundry decoders, right?). But, the design desperately needed a companion print displayed with it, so the other design came about, too. Hope you enjoy these two free laundry room printables, available below.

As we continue through our month of organizational posts, we can't forget the laundry room! I'm sharing some free laundry room printables, to get a very hard-working space into ship-shape order.

Free Laundry Room Printables (includes an 8x10 Laundry Care Cheat Sheet and matching labels)
I've spent a lot of time in the laundry room lately. Holiday entertaining kept my washer and dryer going non-stop. We hosted all of my husband's side of the family for New Year's weekend. This involved five beds' worth of linens (sheets, blankets, quilts, and comforters) for the adults, throw blankets and/or sleeping bags for the kids, and bath towels/rugs/wash cloths for 16 people. I thoroughly washed everything before everyone arrived, as well as after everyone left. It was a lot of laundry, y'all. In the process of the umpteen loads of laundry, I did a little utility room reorganization, which included making some cute free laundry room printables to liven the place up. Download them for yourself below.

How to Store Linens

It's almost the time of year to start bringing out the heavier drapes and linens...my favorite! Today, I'm sharing some of the tricks I use to store away my out of season linens...so they're a breeze to pull out in the spring and put back into place.

How to Store Linens | Put away seasonal linens so they're ready to go when you need them again next year. Includes free printable labels.
I'm a little over-the-top about my drapes and tablecloths. I mean...we all have our quirks, right? While most of the drapes in our home stay in place year round, I try to change out the two sets in my front windows. These particular sets of drapes show from the exterior of our home and also do double duty in terms of efficiency for our heating and cooling systems. In the cooler months, I hang something heavier in these two spots...it helps keep out the cold. In Texas, that means we barely have to turn the heat on all season. I also like the look of a heavier fabric with my holiday decor, too. I'm sharing below how to store linens...so they're ready to go the next time you'll need them.

Laundry Room Command Center: We Got It Together

Looking for a great way to control clutter and create simple organization in your home? A command center is a fun way to "get it together".

Laundry Room Command Center from ishouldbemoppingthefloor
In our continuing laundry room decorating saga, we now have a command center to help us get it all under control {and there's A LOT that has to get under control in this space}. Board Dudes {a Rose Art company} was very gracious to send me some samples of their {VERY cool} magnetic, cork and dry erase organizing systems to try out.

So far...
we {big, fat, puffy} heart all of it. All of it.

Not only did they send me the boards to play with, they put in some awesome accessories, like magnets, markers and even special dry erase wipees. I love it all. LOVE.

I laid it all out on the floor to get the general design that we wanted.
{Do you have one foot tiles in your home? They make a great surface to measure stuff out on...you'll easily know how much space is there}
We made a vintage-inspired tool holder with that board you see laying there on the bottom left...more on that in a bit.

They even come equipped with the mounting hardware.
Those Board Dudes thought of everything.

And it was all very simple to hang and position. Even for *someone* who may or may not get a bit grumbly about the art of hanging things. Especially when his wife has symmetry issues and may or may not request revisions. Thrice.

Didn't it come out super fun, though?
I think it goes well with the oops blue "hooker" board we installed.
Yes. Hooker Board.

I divided the areas of the command center up into "life areas"...you know, sort of-ish. The one on the top left is "shopping life". I can put coupons, receipts and write a list of things we need on there. That list is now extending dangerously close to the margin area of that board...I haven't been to the store in way too long {it may be a two buggy-haul by the time I do darken the automatic doors of the H-E-B}.

The middle section is just for fun. We can pin photos and ticket stubs and good times to the cork board. And don't get me started on how stinkin' fun those little word magnets that Board Dudes sent are. Hours of hilarious {and oh-so-thought-provoking} humor right there. On the right, I use those two boards for schedules and {obviously} our calendar.

We can stick invitations and even use dry erase markers on the stainless board,
{I think it may be my favorite board just because it's way cool}.
Let's not talk about the fact that I...errr, was a bit off on which day the 6th was. I just hope someone shows up for that poor kid's game.

Oh, there they are! My happy magnets.

And I love the graphic prints the acrylic magnets came in. They are so me.
Board Dudes have some {gorgeous} pattern fun going on.

I love that the markers are totally magnetic, too!
I'll never lose another cap again.

This is working out great for us. Our laundry room is off of the garage, so it's where we {and all of our gear} land when we get home every day. In addition to the cool command center from Board Dudes, I ordered a couple of trays from One Kings Lane for the tops of the dryers to catch mail and paper work. It's all starting to come together.

This is not a sponsored post. Board Dudes {a Rose Art Company} provided me with samples to try out and evaluate at no cost to me. All opinions are 100% mine.

Wall-to-Wall DIY Hook Board

A custom hook board can help control clutter that comes with everyday life. This one we put together for our laundry room makeover has helped our jacket/backpack/hat/anything-that-hangs-mess tremendously.

I wanted a board with hooks that spanned the entire blank wall in our laundry room. Our previous hooks were on a one foot board with only four hooks...it was always overloaded.

This new one has more hooks than we'll probably ever use...but I'm soooo okay with that. I even have a hook for the little wall pocket I keep my plastic bags in.

The other day my dad was over and he referred to it as a hooker board. Three times. Without batting an eye. Bless him, Lord. He's too pure of heart to even know the humor the rest of us gutter-minds find in that term. I snicker every time I think of it.

This hooker board started out as a 1x4 piece of pine {cut to size} that I slapped some of my blue oops paint on. I like to work with pine since it's a bit softer and easier to distress.

I distressed it with my palm sander.

Used some stain with an old kitchen sponge I had laying around in the garage. It's laziness at its finest. I couldn't even take the time to find the proper tool.

I let the stain sit for a couple of minutes and then wiped it down to remove the bulk of it.

Then the men hung it. It was a three person job. Apparently.
We managed to get it in studs so we didn't have to use wall anchors
{the bain of my existence}.

And you'd think, between the two of us, doing math to hang hooks to put on the board wouldn't have been as time consuming as it was. But, this was seriously the hardest part. We had charts and graphing calculators {that hadn't been used since college} and rulers and phone apps and everything under the sun. I have no idea how we finally got them up there in some semblance of even spacing. At one point, I walked away in frustration and said "call me on hook seven so I can take a picture". My husband really puts up with a lot from me sometimes.

But I think it turned out great, in spite of our poor math skills. We got the hooks at Lowes...they were the cheaper ones that are toward the bottom of the display.

We're still a considerable way from calling this room done.
If you remember, this room-redo was a product of a broken washer that our warranty replaced for us. The issue that washer had left a streaky mess {from humidity and leaking} all over the walls.

This is the other hook board in the room...it was a HobLob find. I considered duplicating its pattern on the larger board...and then said nahhhh.

Above the hook board, Board Dudes from RoseArt is sponsoring my new command center that I'll be putting in {hopefully next week}. Can't wait to show you everything when it arrives.

Annnnd...on my top shelf {which I now can't reach since my new machines are taller}, I splurged on the vintage metal letters from HobLob. I can't wait to show you guys the entire room when it's all done!

This was where this room started...almost six years ago when we moved in.

Shortly after moving in, my dad helped me redo the room and add the shelving {and remove the cabinetry}. This was a great set up for us, and would've still been had we not encountered washer issues. But, stay tuned...more laundry room adventures to come!

Laundry Room Redo

We live in a very cookie-cutter neighborhood where all the houses are practically identical...borrrrrring. I try to re-do one room in the house a couple of times a year (meaning, 2 rooms get new looks a year...did that come out right?). Recently, I settled on changing up the laundry room after telling my parents they could have my cabinets in there that were completely non-functional to me. My mom was so excited....she had shelves that weren't working out so well. So....switcheroo(ish). Our laundry rooms are different sizes so I ended up getting new shelves...but the cabinets are going up in their house. Who got the better end of that deal?

Here is the blah-blah-builders' beige before:

This just wasn't functional at all. Those cabinets were so far from a normal arm's reach, that more often than not, I kept my detergent sitting on the dryer. Seriously...no storage to speak of. And I am not a person who stands at the dryer folding my clothes (although it drives my mom crazy that I don't, she "raised me better than that"). So, that hanging bar was useless as well. It too is at their house...mom is thrilled since she is an out-of-the-dryer-folder. I am just not wired that way. I have to let it pile up and then pop in Season 5 of Friends and bang it all out during naptime. Not ideal...but it (somewhat) works for me.

I present to you the new and improved laundromat:

It's simple, but I really like it. It feels so much better. After taking out his new cabinets, my dad helped me re-route the dryer to where it is against the wall and I have room for a trash can in the middle of the two. He was also kind enough to install my new shelves. HELLO....can you say quadruple the storage (if not more)!?! The buckets on top keep all of my cleaning supplies: one for bathrooms, one for the kitchen/floors, and the other for living/bedroom areas. I can't wait to actually see how this works for me! I am hoping to just grab a bucket and then head to that particular room, instead of having to sift through the craziness of cleaning supplies that was under my kitchen sink.

I filled these canisters with detergent and Oxyclean. The brown tote containers contain liquid detergent, vinegar (awesome for laundry), spot treaters, dryer sheets, extra hangers, etc.

This little rug actually has the blue of the walls in the leaves, it just didn't photograph well. I was so excited to do the blue/chocolate thing in here!

My hope is that this room truly makes me a better laundress. A girl can always dream, can't she?
