2023 Traditional Christmas Home Tour

This post for a Traditional Christmas Home contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

It's been a few years since I've done a Holiday Home Tour, but I thought it would be a fun theme to revisit. See our complete 2023 Traditional Christmas Home Tour (on video!) below.

Christmas Tour
While I've definitely scaled back our Christmas decor over the past ten years, I think I've kept up the sentimental value. Below, I'm sharing a complete video tour of our holiday home for 2023. I hope you enjoy it.

Cheese Dome Turned Seasonal Cloche

This post for a Cheese Dome Makeover contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

I took a cheese dome from the thrift store (dust and all) and turned it into a simple cloche that can be used seasonally for decor. With just a little paint, this piece was given a new purpose (and lots of bright spring fun!). See this simple makeover below.

Cheese Dome Makeover
My kitchen was ready for a bit of spring. I love to decorate the middle of our bar area with this mirror, adding seasonal touches on top of it. And my thrift store cheese dome ended up being the perfect Easter cloche for this season. See how simple this project was below.

Using Wallpaper as Artwork

I've been struggling with this wall in our guest room for a while now. Lo and behold, I had the solution close by the entire time...in an old roll of wallpaper. See how using wallpaper as artwork can be a cost effective way to get a big WOW factor for your walls.

Using Wallpaper as Artwork
If you need some budget-friendly artwork that packs a big punch, peel and stick wallpaper is a great solution. I used a roll on an old framed canvas I had in the storage shed for some instant art for our guest bedroom. See how I put this piece together below.

Make Your Own Valentine Kitchen Towels

My oven doors were looking a bit bare after I took down the Christmas towels. I put together these Valentine Kitchen Towels to take their place and they make me smile whenever I see them. They're simple to make (if you can do a straight stitch, you're good!). See the tutorial below.

Valentine Kitchen Towels
Anyone else love a good ricrac embellishment? That was my starting point for these new towels. Then I dug in my felt stash and found a square of pink that was destined to be a heart shape. It's a simple little design, but it really makes the perfect seasonal statement piece. See how to create your own Valentine Kitchen Towels below.

Easy Fall Floral Centerpiece

I'm excited to share this simple and easy Fall floral centerpiece with you today. All it requires is a small bunch of flowers and greenery (fall mums are perfect!), two vases (one smaller than the other), and acorns. See how to put this one together below.

Thanksgiving Floral Centerpiece
I always enjoy natural elements on Fall tablescapes. While I'm keeping it simple this go round with just one vase of floral fun, I still added lots of natural goodness to it. See how to create this simple Acorn Fall Floral Centerpiece below.

Holiday Ceramic Tree Options

This post for Holiday Ceramic Tree Options contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

I think a few of you are aware of my beloved ceramic tree collection. These holiday goodies are my favorites to pull out every year. Several are original 1970's trees that my mom made back when this was a popular holiday pastime. And after breaking an old one, I learned that there are lots of new options available. I'm sharing my favorites below.

Ceramic Tree
When my parents decided to downsize in 2004, they got rid of a LOT of stuff. My brothers and I received the bulk of it. My mom gave me her collection of ceramic Christmas trees and I was delighted. I grew up enjoying their twinkling lights and was excited to have them in my own home. Now that both of my parents have passed away, this collection means a great deal more to me. I've had to replace a couple over the years and found that their crazy price tags on eBay were hard to stomach (up to $1,000!). But, I've found some newer (read: cheaper) reproductions on Amazon that blend perfectly with my oldies. I'm sharing them (and a few other ceramic tree finds) below.

15 Fall Pumpkin Decor Ideas on a Budget

As we head to the end of the summertime, it's almost time to break out the fall decor (I can't wait!). And while I usually dabble in printables, I do pick up an item or two through Amazon to add here and there for some extra fall flair. These 15 Fall Pumpkin Decor Ideas below are all from Amazon and all under $25 (most under $12).

Fall Pumpkin Decor
I'll be honest, I've already lit my first fall candle. Yesterday, we had the first rainstorm in months and once the temperature dipped below 80, I just couldn't help myself! While I do wait until Labor Day to pull out my bin of fall stuff, I have been looking around on Amazon and adding lots of goodies to my wish list. See all of them below.

11 Unique Containers for Flower Arrangements

This post for Unique Containers for Flower Arrangements contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

I'm definitely not a traditional vase person...I love containers with character and quirkiness. And since my cutting garden has hit its peek and is overflowing with floral goodness, I've been using anything and everything I can get my hands on for arrangements these days. Check out my 11 Unique Containers for Flower Arrangements below.

Unique Containers for Flower Arrangements
I mentioned it earlier this season, but my garden took a big shift this year from mostly vegetables to mostly flowers (with a few herbs and a tomato plant or two thrown in). I've actually loved this and plan to do it again next year. Flowers are so much easier than vegetables and bring me so much JOY when I see them. They're practically disease free and the "cut and come again" varieties I've planted have kept giving me more and more stems all season long. Because of this abundance, I've been finding more fun ways to display and share these home-grown pretties. See my simple ideas for Unique Containers for Flower Arrangements below.

Sunflower Home Decor
There are so many varieties of sunflowers, but that classic, big bold yellow one can't be beat. It's an iconic symbol of late fall and early autumn. And it makes a lovely design in home decor. See all of these budget-friendly sunflower home decor items below. They're all available through Amazon.

White and Blue Fall Decor in the Kitchen

This post for blue fall decor contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

Since my kitchen is already a haven for white and blue (and well, yellow), I tried to incorporate those same colors into my fall decor this season. Check out all of my white and blue fall decor in the kitchen below, plus grab the free pumpkin printable that I used in my vignette.

Blue Fall Decor
I've kept the fall decor to a bit of a minimum in the kitchen this year. We did a renovation almost a year ago in this space and got rid of the coffee bar (which is where most of my seasonal decor used to go). I still have a coffee bar set up, but it's not quite as conducive to the decor I used to do. So, now, I have switched things to the other side of the kitchen, where I use this little shelf above the stove for seasonal decor. This year, I'm sticking with my white and blue fall decor in this spot, so it flows with the rest of the space.

Free Hummingbird Printable

I was needing a new design for the frame on my mantel. I created this hummingbird printable for this spot, but thought it would be fun to share it with you, as well. I'm betting I'm not the only hummingbird fan out there. Download this hummingbird printable for your own space below.

Hummingbird Printable
After I took out my Three Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue printable from this frame, I really didn't want to take the frame out of this spot (I really love this frame, it's from Amazon here). I was wanting a simple, nature-inspired print for the mantel, and wanted to go word-free this time. A sweet little hummingbird printable seemed like the perfect solution. And, since I originally just designed this print for me, it's totally in my colors...but I'm thinking a lot of you are blue and white fans, too.

The fourth of July is sneaking up on us...and my mantel is red, white, and ready for it. I created a (free) printable Patriotic Paper Chain Garland to add some extra interest...and it's available for you to download below and use in your own patriotic decor. Because who doesn't love a good paper chain garland, right?
Paper Chain Garland
We're heading straight back to elementary school craft class with today's paper chain garland printable (does anyone else remember making these for the holiday classroom decor?). I've truly always wanted to create a printable patterned paper chain and the fourth of July season seemed like the perfect opportunity. You can download this one below.

AND...it's Thrifty Style Team day! We all created patriotic projects this time around and there is sooooo much inspiration. I left all of the links to my friends' pages at the bottom of this post.

DIY Potted Hyacinth Bulbs

This post for Potted Hyacinth Bulbs contains affiliate links. As an Amazon Affiliate, I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

I love fresh flowers year round. One way to beat the spring growth season is to create a potted hyacinth (or other bulb) indoors. You can start enjoying fragrant blooms long before they're available for harvesting outside. These potted hyacinth arrangements were created the easy way...no forcing required.

It's also Thrifty Style Team day, so there is quite a bit of lovely spring inspiration below for you to enjoy.

Potted Hyacinth
If you've never smelled a hyacinth in full bloom, you've got to rectify that immediately. They are truly heavenly, y'all. And since I've had these particular potted Hyacinth bulbs around the past few weeks, their fragrance has basically filled our home with the scent of spring. See how easy these were to put together below.

When I received my mother's vanity tray after her passing, I knew I wanted to use it for something other than its intended use. That idea gave way to many more and now I have several of these trays around our house, mostly used for organizational purposes. See below my five unique uses for a vintage vanity mirror tray.

Vintage Vanity Mirror Tray Uses
Not only am I sharing these fun uses for vanity trays, it's also Thrifty Style Team day. I've teamed up with some of my favorite bloggers to bring you all kinds of thrifty ideas to use in your own home or workplace. Check out all of the fun below.

Use What You Have Decor

This post for Use What You Have Decor contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

Today, I've got some fun "Use What You Have Decor". I completely made over our TV room using mostly items from around the house, as well as a couple of orders online, and some thrift store items I had "waiting in the wings". I'm honestly so happy with how this room came together with very little money spent. When you really get creative and think outside the box, being able to use what you have on hand proves to be a great solution.
Use What You Have Decor
I've been chatting about this space on my Instagram account for a bit now. This was previously my dad's den (as he named it). Since he passed away, it's been a place we kind of avoided. But, I was ready to inject a bit of life and color back into it, so we could make it a happy space once more. I think my dad would have gotten a big kick out of it, too.

I shopped my house for this one...plus a couple of items online, as well. See all of the details below.

So, whether you have a Silhouette or Cricut and it just needs a rest, or whether you'd prefer someone else make the pillows all the time, this post is for you. All of the 13 Fall Pillow Covers below are available on Amazon Prime for less then ten dollars each. Some are even cheaper. Get in on these pretties, y'all!

Americana Pillows
These patriotic pillows are all red, white, and cute, y'all. And, most are available on Amazon for less than $10 each. I share a lot of SVGs on here to make your own pillows and decor, but I know a lot of you aren't SVG-users, so today's post is for you. I'm also sharing my method to make any of these pillows outdoor-friendly, as well. See all of these 13 Patriotic Throw Pillows below and add a little bit of patriotic spirit to your spaces.

Master Bath Makeover

This Master Bath Makeover is sponsored by Lowe's.
All opinions and ideas are mine.

Our master bath makeover is finished. And we couldn't be more smitten with our bright and happy new space. We went from the 1970s to, well...a vintage version of a modern master bath. Check out all of the photos of the new space below.
Master Bath Makeover
We broke all the rules with our master bath remodel. Plates hanging in a bathroom? Sure, why not? Floor to ceiling drapes on a tiny window? Absolutely. Funky layout to remain intact? Of course. But, honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. We truly now have a master bath that reflects our tastes and personalities. See all of this fun below.

Antique Door Knob Towel Holder

This Antique Door Knob Towel Holder is a part of our bathroom makeover sponsored by Lowe's. All opinions and ideas are my own.

We are nearing the finish line of our bathroom makeover (yippee!). This Antique Door Knob Towel Holder is one of the projects that I have been planning for this space for some time. I'm really thrilled with how it turned out (it has some serious sentimental value, too). I have complete instructions on how you can make your own Antique Door Knob Towel Holder below.

Antique Door Knob Towel Holder
It's been a hot minute since my dad has been able to help me with projects here on the blog. Now that he's living with us, he's literally asking me for things to do on the daily. I've had this door knob towel rack on the brain for years, y'all. I just couldn't figure out how to actually attach the knobs to a board without damaging them with some kind of epoxy. But, leave it to my dad to engineer this entire thing within a matter of minutes. Genius. I've had him help me tell you how we did this one below.

Dated Bathroom Ideas

This post for dated bathroom ideas is sponsored by Lowe's.
All opinions are my own.

I know I've talked about it for a bit, but our master bathroom renovation is well underway, now. I've compiled a complete tour of all of its before state below. I'm also including loads of bathroom ideas that we're implementing for this dated space...while still holding on to some of its vintage charm and basic footprint.

Bathroom Ideas
Our master bathroom is always the highlight of the home tour when friends and family want to see our place. I mean...that tub, y'all. It gets a lot of "wow" reactions (and I can never tell if those are good or bad wows). But, yeah...wow. Truthfully, that tub was a toughie for us at first, too. We nicknamed it Dracula's Coffin from the get-go, due to its unique shape. But over the past three years, this weird little space has kind of captured our hearts. While most folks may take a sledge hammer to the entire space, we're going about this renovation a bit differently. See what is staying and what is going...along with all of our bathroom ideas below.
