Free August Desktop Wallpaper for All Devices

These August Desktop Wallpaper downloads are a cheerful way to dress up your computer, tablet, or phone (or all three!). The fun cherry designs are available in a variety of options. They're the perfect way to wrap up your summer (digitally speaking, anyway). Grab any of these August Desktop Wallpaper designs below.

This set of digital freebies will be the last summery ones...you know what that means, right? Pumpkins, leaves, and apples are right around the corner (I can hardly wait, y'all). But, we can't shut the door on summertime, yet. Here is one last set of wallpaper freebies to celebrate those lazy, hazy, crazy days. This set of designs is packed with bright, red, watercolor cherries tumbling all about. And to be totally up front, the blank version (without the calendar or quote) is my favorite, by far. Since this is a busier design, it seems a lil' bit easier on the eyes. But, the other two are certainly keepers, as well! See all of these August Desktop Wallpaper designs below.

I know I say this every single month, but it's worth repeating: I'm seriously happy that I started this new wallpaper series at the start of this year. It's been such a blast to create these pretties every month. The summer designs have all been some of my faves. And I definitely plan to bring this wallpaper series back in 2020, as well. I definitely have not had my fill of it, yet (hoping you feel the same)!

August Desktop Wallpaper for All Devices

This month, I did something a bit different than usual. The cherry design is something I've been thinking about in my head for quite some time (and August seemed like a great time for it). But, the cherries can be a bit busy. I do recommend the blank versions on these, but I definitely included the calendars and quotes, as well. And on the phone designs, I lightened the backgrounds quite a bit, since icons were a lot against all the falling cherries. I actually do test runs with all of these digital designs to see how they work. So, if the phone one looks different to you, it's because it is! But, with good reason. See the designs below (and as usual, the calendar is only available for desktops and tablets, due to dimensions).

Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries

I feel like this month's quote was kind of an obvious one, but sometimes that's the way to go, right? This quote if from song lyrics written by Lew Brown. I have always been a huge Mary Engelbreit fan and her cherry art is my fave (although, she prefers a chair of bowlies over a bowl of cherries...if you understand this, you're probably familiar with her work, as well).

August 2019 Calendar

I changed the calendar design umpteen times to make it as readable as I possibly could. You can see from the above sample that the background on it is lightened up a bit, as well. If you look at the calendar above, compared to the black desktop wallpaper below, you'll also notice that I removed a few cherries, to make things a bit less busy.

Again, I do prefer the blank version of the August desktop wallpaper designs (pictured above). It's just so playful and fun! Plus, it allows you to see your apps and such a lot easier.

While I mentioned above that this entire desktop wallpaper series (which is brand new for 2019) has quickly become a favorite of mine, it's also quickly become a reader favorite, too. If you haven't had a chance yet, be sure to also check out the JanuaryFebruaryMarchAprilMayJune, and July versions. Here's hoping you love this August edition, too, with all of its cherry toppling whimsy.

How to Download onto an iPad or iPhone

Shortly after I started this free wallpaper series, several readers reached out asking for download instructions to an iPad or iPhone. I thought I'd share my easy tips for doing just that (the method I use is sort of cheating, but the fact that it's crazy easy makes that okay).
  • Before I start the process on my phone or tablet, I download my particular phone's (or iPad's) wallpaper design onto my computer's desktop (download links are available below). That download on my computer then gets emailed to myself (I have gmail and it allows me to email to the same address I'm sending from). If you'd rather skip the whole emailing yourself process, you'll have to download the Dropbox app on your phone or iPad (I provide all of these wallpaper designs within Dropbox for this very reason). I like to send readers to a super tutorial on this Dropbox method here on the iDownload Blog. But, again, if you'd like to avoid that, just email yourself the design from your computer and open the email on your phone, like I do, and follow the below steps:
    • Open the email you sent yourself with its wallpaper attachment on your device's mail app. At the bottom of your email, it will say "Tap to Download". Go ahead and do just that.

How to Download on Devices
    • Tap the image that you just downloaded within your email (it should appear at the bottom of your email). The above image (pictured on the left) is what should pop up. Tap the square box outline with the upward arrow on the bottom left corner of your screen (labeled as #1 in the above image).
    • After you've pressed the box, the screen pictured above right should appear for you. Tap 'Save Image' (labeled as #2 in the above image). Your design should now be saved to your device.
    • Press the Home key/button. Now, go to Settings>Wallpaper>Choose a New Wallpaper.
    • On my own phone, my images save to my Camera Roll (I am *almost positive* this is the default on most iOS devices like iPhones and iPads). I will then select Camera Roll and then I find the wallpaper that I just downloaded. If your device saves elsewhere, you'll need to search there for the download.
  • Feel free to set this new wallpaper design to your lock screen, your home screen, or both. It'll be a cherry party on your device!
  • That *should* hopefully do the trick for you. Let me know if you have any issues with this method.

I hope you've been able to enjoy this new wallpaper series. I talked about this last month, but I'm also thinking about adding a monthly Facebook Timeline Cover edition, as well, if there is enough interest in it.
