Tin Can Flower Garden

Our chain link fence got a little makeover with a simple tin can flower garden. We had enough cans leftover that we used a few for a centerpiece down our patio table, too. I think any place is a good place for a sweet little tin can flower garden, actually!

Do you have a chain link fence that could use a little spruce up? We have vine growing on the majority of our fence, but it was a bit untidy where the vine tapered off. We fixed that with the sweetest little tin can flower garden that the whole family worked on together. See how simple it was to create below.

One of the most beloved games of the south is good, old-fashioned cornhole. Our family enjoys it a lot. When we had our extended family over for Easter, cornhole was in full playing mode. But, after a busy day of play, we realized our cornhole boards were in need of a little paint and TLC. Check out our tutorial on painting cornhole boards below.

Are you a cornhole fan? It's a really simple game...but highly addictive (well, it is to us, anyway). My friend, Emily, was kind enough to gift us a couple of cornhole boards a while back...she gave me carte blanche with taking a paintbrush to them. After playing with our boards for a while, I finally got around to fixing them up a bit. I'm really happy with how they turned out, too. See how simple painting cornhole boards can be. These Easy Quilted Coasters are my new favorite gift to give. They're definitely a beginner sewing project that anyone can tackle. And I have a simple trick to make sure they last forever, in spite of spills and daily use.

A few years ago, we had another family over to our house for dinner. They brought me the sweetest set of handmade, quilted coasters as a hostess gift. They were so pretty...cream colored and monogrammed, too. I absolutely loved them and how they looked in my living room. I truly used the heehaw out of them. Much to my sadness, they became stained over the years with our endless cups of tea and coffee. Now that I've learned to make my own easy quilted coasters, I've also learned how to make them hold up over time a bit better. Check out their tutorial below.

When I was a kid, my sister-in-law regularly made me sweet little clothes for my dolls (I was a later-in-life child, so my sister-in-law was a bit older than me...and already married to my brother at the time). She was very good at sewing and could make cuter clothes than were available in stores. I've been over in my parents' town a lot lately. Their Walmart seems to have a much better selection of Pioneer Woman goodies than ours. When I ran across these Pioneer Woman aqua buffalo check tablecloths, I went weak in the knees. I knew immediately I wanted to make them into drapery panels for our breakfast room. I loved the drop cloth ones that were in here previously, but the way they puddled on the floor, meant they attracted alllllll the dog hair. All. Of. It. 

So, we were ready for some ch-ch-ch-changes in this space. These bright and cheerful pom pom drapes were just the ticket.

I loved this Crossbody Water Bottle Holder so much after I made it for my son, I made one for myself, too. They've proven to be fantastic for holding our H20 during our activities and even just driveway play.

My son has used his new Crossbody Water Bottle Holder so much, I had to see how fun it was. So, I made one for myself and use it on my walks (and plan to use it on our trip to see that big mouse in Florida this summer). These Chalk-Style Painted Salt and Pepper Shakers go great with my newly made-over dinette set. I scored them at the thrift store for a buck and some change, y'all. 

Salt and pepper shakers are some of my favorite things to hunt for at the thrift store...especially wooden ones that take paint easily. I've been on a Salvation Army kick for my thrifting fun lately (G-Dub has gotten a wee bit spendy lately), and I've found so many goodies...including these wonderfully shaped salt and pepper shakers. I love all of their curves and grooves...perfect for chalk paint and a little antique wax love.

Table and Chairs Makeover with Chalk-Style Paint

I've been wanting to make over my kitchen table for eons, y'all. I finally just bit the bullet and I couldn't be any happier. I went all Monica Gellar style and painted my chairs in several colors and the table in another. See how it all came together below.

Whhhhhhy did I wait so long to tackle this project, y'all? It has completely changed this space and made me fall in love with my beat up 14+ year old table all over again. And with Waverly's chalk-style paint, there was minimal prep. That's probably my favorite part. Check out the makeover process below.
