In Our Lunch Boxes {Week No. 14}

{Eat Dessert First}
My Ben's motto, when Oreos are involved, is "Lunch is short...eat dessert first.
Also included are a ham & cheese sandwich on a bread round {quartered}, carrots, pretzel sticks and grapes.

{A Bug's Life}
I originally tried to make this into a spider...but he was too big for the box...so the legs got shortened! The bug is a PB&J sandwich, also included are animal crackers & carrots

{The Spider, take two}
I tried that spider again on Ritz crackers sandwiched with peanut butter & jelly. While it looks fine here, it was a mess in the box by lunch time and it annoyed my little man. I probably didn't need jelly on the crackers, too. Also included are cheese, grapes, carrots & animal crackers.

 {Another Roll-Up}
Simple ham & cheese roll up in a tortilla, TJ bar, grapes & carrots

In Our Lunch Box This Week {No. 13}

DINO-mite
Dinosaur sandwich cut with cookie cutter, pretzels, string cheese, TJ bar cut in half and stacked and cantaloupe.

Jack-O-Lantern
Jack-O-Lantern sandwich on bread round {I used my V-shaped cutter and turned it upside down for his  nose & eyes}, TJ b-fast bar, letter-pretzels, cantaloupe

Just Silly
Not sure what this sandwich is...I just kind of went with it! Also included are apples and "cheese ghosts" made from string cheese cut in half.

In Our Lunch Box This Week {No. 12}

My pantry is still in pieces...about to rectify that this weekend. Hoping next week brings a few more creative lunches and less time in the cafeteria line.

Ghostly Fun
Ghosts drawn on marshmallows with edible markers...also included are a bagel-thin sandwich, carrots, Special K Chips and grapes

No-Brainer
I love the little themed silicone holders...makes it easy to make it festive!

 Variety is the spice...
Bagel-thin sandwich, carrots, grapes, crackers & cheese and a Trader Joe's Trek bar {cut in half}

In Our Lunch Box This Week {No. 11}

Only a few creations to show this week. I'm repainting/reorganizing my pantry so my kitchen is so chaotic right now...we bought more than we brought in terms of school lunches this week.

{Driving Me Batty}
The first Halloween Bento of the season...I scored the bat sandwich punch on clearance at my HEB store last week {for $.50...yee & haw, y'all}, also included are grape tomatoes, grapes and pita poppers. He also had a Greek yogurt in his lunch box. I bought the pumpkin silicone container last year at Hobby Lobby.

{Easy Peasy}
Sandwich on bread round {cut in half and stacked}, yogurt covered fruit pieces {found at Trader Joe's in their goody area}, strawberries, grape tomatoes, celery and peanut butter for dipping.

{Another no-brainer}
I feel like my bentos are getting a little ho-hum lately...I know this since a lot of the food is still in the container when they're brought home. This one contains a sandwich on a bread round {cut in half and stacked}, string cheese, strawberries, "S'more Smasher" {another indulgent treat from the goody area at Trader Joe's}, Special K Chip-Crackers {my mom bought these and didn't care for them...so we "inherited" a box of them}, grape tomatoes.

In Our Lunch Box This Week {No. 10}

It's been a fun lunch week...we have a boy who gets to go to Legoland for his birthday this weekend. This gave me a lot of Bento ideas.

Easy Peasy
Ham & cheese on a bread round, fruit chew strips, grapes, letter pretzels

Eight is Great
Ham & cheese on bread round with eight cheese candles, eight pieces of fruit chews, eight carrot sticks, letter pretzels and grapes {and candy since it's birthday week}

School of Fish
Peanut butter & jelly sandwich {cut with fish cutter}, goldfish, egg molded into fish shape, grapes and fish grahams

Lego City
Lego ham & cheese sandwich {I made the circles with the top of a spice jar as a cutter...glued on with mustard}, granola bar, Lego-man cheese head & crackers, carrots & grapes

In Our Lunch Box This Week {No. 7}

It's been a while since I've done the "In Our Lunch Boxes" on a regular basis. But now that school's back in, I'm in full bento-mode again. Here's a few of the lunches the boys have had this week:

The above was the first day of school lunch for my oldest son.
Includes: ham & cheese sandwich {with letters from cheese, glued on with mustard}, grape tomatoes, cantaloupe, gf crackers and a Trader Joe's fruit bar {his fave}

An easy to prepare lunch:
Includes: ham & cheese sandwich on bread round {cut in quarters and the quarters are stacked}, carrot slices, orange slices, cucumber slices {with an adorable mini bottle of Ranch dressing...I found those in the Japanese district in LA, he loved it} and letter Cheez-Its {not in love with the processed factor of this item, but, sometimes I cave}

M-I-C-K-E-Y:
Includes: PB&J Mickey sandwich {I used the below items to create this}, cucumber slices, grapes, those cool all-natural fruit things I found at our local grocery store and {yucky processed} letter Cheez-Its

I bought these Mickey Mouse items at Disneyland when we were there in the spring. And the edible markers were at my grocery store in the cake decorating area. The template-looking thing is actually a  toast-indention thing {don't you love how technical I'm getting here? Ha!}. I pressed it on the bread and then outlined the impression with the markers.

Easy & Fun
Includes: Simple PB& J Roll-Ups {I gave the how-to on those HERE}, grapes and string cheese.
There was also a cup of Greek yogurt in his lunch box, too.

 Another Simple Lunch
Includes: PB&J on a bread round, string cheese, grape tomatoes, Cheez-It letters and cantaloupe

First Day of School Lunches

Just wanted to share with you the lunches I made last year for my boys' first day of school. I will probably be duplicating the top one this year on our first day...but with a second grader and kindergartner {ahhh}!

Contents: {both housed in my EasyLunchBoxes....love those!}:
- 'First Grade' ham & cheese sandwich {letters made from a mini-alpha cookie-cutter set I bought here},  egg {molded in the shape of a car with one of these}, black & green grapes on mini-soccer-ball-skewers {found here}, star-shaped cantaloupe {used these veggie cutters}, carrots, cucumbers and yogurt.
- 'PreK' PB&J sandwich...cut a small star out of middle using the veggie cutters mentioned above, used fruit leather for the letters. {all other items are the same as above}

In Our Lunchboxes This Week

Can't let Valentine's pass me by without posting the boys' Bento boxes for tomorrow. Includes: ham & cheese sandwiches on wheat bread (I pulled out the heel of the bread and did a heart cutter on it and the regular piece of bread and replaced the heart on the regular bread with the heel one), pretzels (they seemed heart shaped), Babybel with a heart cutout on the wax, raspberry yogurt with sprinkles, and spinach leaves with heart shaped carrots (used Mrs Happy Homemaker's tutorial for cutting the carrots).

In Our Lunch Boxes: Week 4

More Bento fun....happy to report my boys have been bringing home empty boxes and full tummies! Loving the Bento life! ; )
Photobucket
One of the boys' faves have been the sammich roll-ups. SO EASY.
Just flatten out your bread with a rolling pin, add topping and roll!
Also included: car egg, grapes & cantaloupe stars.

Photobucket
Ham & cheese sammich roll-ups!
Also included: Wheat Thins Stix, carrots, cantaloupe stars and apples.
(I unwrap the apples in the a.m. when I throw the ice pack in.)

Photobucket
Wellllll.....the raw broccoli went over about like an elephant pole-vaulting.
But the corn dog muffins....success! I've posted the recipe here for those.
Also included cheese cubes (thanks, Sandy!), grapes, strawberries & granola.

Photobucket
The Angry Birds Bento!! I gave same details here.
Also included: egg star, fruit salad, broccoli (somebody take that stuff away from me), carrots, cucumbers & a strawberry muffin.

Happy Bento-Making!

In Our Lunch Boxes: Week 3

Photobucket
Another "Angry Monster"...my little guy saw brother's Bento last week and requested one of these. He's never eaten an entire PB&J until today...success!! Also included: string cheese, chocolate chip muffin, grape & apple kabobs.

Photobucket
Found a new container on clearance at Tar-Jay! This has a frozen ice mold that fits in its lid. Love it. He also had a little thermos of the previous night's mac & cheese.

Photobucket
My big guy has gotten to where he loves the sandwich rounds. I made him a ham & cheese (it's cut in half and stacked). Also included: egg in fish mold, carrots, chips & tomatoes.

Photobucket
More of the freezer-recipe pizza muffins that we made last week.
{You can find the recipe here}
They are so YUM.
Grapes, Wheat Thins Stix & peach applesauce.

Photobucket
Another ham & cheese on sandwich round (stacked), chocolate chip muffin, Wheat Thins Stix, raisins, cheese circles (tucked in next to the muffin), apples & grapes.

Have a great week!

What's for lunch Wednesday?
