Free Printable Recipe Cards

This post for Free Printable Recipe Cards contains affiliate links. As an Amazon Affiliate, I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

These free printable recipe cards come with two design options: one is for baking recipes and the other is for savory deliciousness. The cards themselves have lots of watercolor elements...from ingredients to light background swashes to anchor each of the designs. Each of the cards is available in three size options, too. Download these free printable recipe cards below.

If you joined us for our big (and free!) Fall Printable Series, you know exactly where the inspiration for these designs came from. Within the series, I published two illustrated recipe printables that were designed to be decorative in nature, however, they depicted actual recipes that can be made and enjoyed, as well. You can see the illustrated recipe printables for the Pumpkin Bread or Cinnamon Supper Cake (both of these were reader favorites in our series). I immediately knew that I wanted to use some of the same design elements from those illustrations on coordinating free printable recipe cards, too. Since these cards are fall-specific, I decided to hold off on releasing them until after the series ended. But, they're now available for you to download below (in more than our usual sizes, too!).

I did the extended sizing on these (they come in 3x5", 4x6", and a rare 5x7" recipe card) in case you'd like to frame up your own beloved family recipe. The 5x7" designs would be perfect for doing just that. They're darling to display in your kitchen. I shared in my Cinnamon Supper Cake Recipe Printable post that the inspiration behind all of these watercolor recipe printables I've been doing lately was the framed recipe my mother-in-law has had in her kitchen for years. Hers was a family favorite from her youth...it makes the perfect little decorative piece in her kitchen. I thought these could work in a similar manner in that larger size.

Baking Recipe Cards

Recipe Card Design

  • These are fairly no-frill recipe cards. I feel like no-frill recipe cards seem to function better than overly-frilled ones (cute is fun, but not always functional, as a wise woman I worked for once told me).
  • There are places on these cards for the following:
    • recipe name
    • recipe ingredients
    • a generous section for recipe directions
    • a spot to write in the name of the person whose kitchen this recipe came from (I've always liked that verbiage, "from the kitchen of"...).
  • And, if you have an extra long recipe, there is no harm in flipping the card over and writing the rest of it on the blank back side.

Recipe Card Style Options

Above, you can see the two different styles featured on these free printable recipe cards.
  • The top design is for savory recipes. It features watercolor ingredients including:
    • a bottle of oil
    • a carrot
    • a beet
    • a tomato
    • cheese
    • herbs
  • The bottom design is the baking version. It includes watercolor ingredients featuring:
    • flour
    • sugar
    • butter
    • honey
    • milk

Printing and Using these Free Printable Recipe Cards

  • You may download your favorite size and design of these cards below with the download links.
  • These cards are for personal use only. You may gift them, for sure. However, please do not reproduce or print these with the intention of reselling them in any manner.
  • All of these sizes are PDF formatted for easy, at-home printing. I know a lot of you prefer JPEGS, but this time around, that format wouldn't work as well (since those are usually printed like a photo image). The 3x5" sizes come with three cards per page and the 4x6" and 5x7" sizes each have two cards per page.
  • These cards work best when printed onto letter-sized white cardstock. Regular paper will be far too flimsy for recipe cards. You'll want to use the cardstock so these stand the test of time.
  • After printing, simply cut out your cards to use and gift to others with your favorite recipes. Or, frame!

Recipe Box for 4x6" Recipe Cards

Wooden Recipe Box
  • If you're looking for a nice, neutral recipe box to hold recipe cards (the 4x6" ones work in this manner), I found the above one here on Amazon
    • It comes with the dividers, as well as a frame to set on the top of the box while you're cooking (it holds one card up there at a time).
    • A box like this would make a super thoughtful  gift...full of family recipes handwritten onto these free printable recipe cards.
  • If you prefer not to keep your cards in a recipe box, but still want to protect them, I've used these 4x6" plastic recipe card holders with a lot of success.

  1. Lovely recipe cards. Unfortunately the 5x7 savory card downloads the 5x7 baking card. Thanks

  2. Both the baking and savory versions printed out fine in the 3x5 cards. I love cooking and getting new recipes from friends, and give away some of mine. These will be lovely to attach to a goodie I'm giving someone. Thanks for sharing your beautiful, creative talents!
