Shirley Temple Poke Cake

This Shirley Temple Poke Cake Recipe has all of the flavors of
the classic Shirley Temple drink...in a moist and delicious cake.

When I was a kid, going out to dinner was always a special occasion. And ordering a fancy drink made the meal even more fun! From about the age of three on up, I would always order a Shirley Temple drink. And you guys, to this day, I sometimes still order these as a treat. They're a bit of nostalgic taste that just take me back. The original version is a sweet concoction of 7 Up, Grenadine and Cherries. Sometimes Ginger Ale is used as well. The entire thing is just so yummy and the perfect drink for a kiddo.

Free Printable Kids' Road Trip Activities

These free printable kids' road trip activities are
the perfect way to entertain your kiddos in the car on long trips.

I originally created these printables about a year ago. I had personalized them for some friends of ours that were moving away. They were headed out on a cross-country drive with two kiddos. I came across them the other day and thought you all might enjoy them, too! Sometimes it's nice to put away all of the devices and just enjoy each other in the car...these activities make it super fun! Download below>>>

Chest of Drawers Makeover and Tutorial

This Chest of Drawers Makeover and Tutorial contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

This piece belonged to my maternal great grandmother.
If you follow this blog regularly, you've probably come to the conclusion that she had an extensive amount of wooden furniture...a woman after my own heart! See how I made over this Chest of Drawers below.

So, this fun piece showed up at my house via one of my brothers about a year and a half ago. My house is where many family furniture pieces come to their final resting place...and then I do my best to resurrect them. And then keep them for myself...forever (twirls fictitious evil mustache).

Make Ahead and Freeze Lunchbox Ideas

Thanks so much to Robinsons Fruitshoot for sponsoring today's post.
We've got some great make ahead and freeze lunch box ideas...and yummy drinks to keep your kids hydrated and fueled for a busy afternoon!

I'm about to be out of town for nearly a week...which means Dad will be taking over lunch duties. To ensure that the kids don't end up buying their lunches every single day, I spent a little time last weekend preparing some freezer items that can easily be popped into lunches without any fuss. And, we've stocked up on our Fruit Shoot juices since the boys have grown to love those things!

Check out all of the ideas below>>>

Greek Yogurt and Carrot Muffins

These Greek Yogurt and Carrot Muffins are the perfect freezer-friendly lunch box treat {for kids and grown ups!}. And, they're only 3 Weight Watchers Points Plus!

Hey Y'all! Free Printable | 8x10 | Instant Download
I appreciate that y'all let me get my southern on sometimes. It's just in me. And this simple little printable just pulls at my heart. Everyone...and I mean everyone around here wouldn't think twice about hearing a good ol' "hey, y'all"! And often, that "hey" can be drug out into more than one syllable. True story.

White Chocolate Cherry Hello Dollies

These White Chocolate Cherry Hello Dollies
take the traditional bar cookie to an entirely new level.

If you were around these parts a few of weeks ago, you've probably figured out I'm on a bit of a Hello Dolly kick. I shared my mom's original Hello Dolly recipe with you here. And today, I've mixed it up and swapped out the original chocolate and butterscotch with white chocolate and dried cherries. INSANE! They're so gooooood, you guys. The tartness of the cherries pairs so nicely with the smooth white chocolate flavor. Bar perfection.

And...cherries ALWAYS make me think of springtime. I'm going to will it here if it's the last thing I do!

All opinions are my own...I keep it real! :)

It's not Easter in our family without deviled eggs!
These Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs are a delicious twist on the classic.

I'm not going to lie. I blew through some serious Weight Watchers' points taste-testing these...they're irresistible! The addition of cheese and roasted red peppers make these so much fun. They definitely have the taste of each: pimento cheese and deviled eggs. And isn't my new egg tray so fun? It's from Wilton Armetale and I just LOVED using it for this recipe.

Not All Who Wander Are Lost Free Printable

I'm super excited to share with you this new fun and carefree design:
Not All Wander are Lost Free Printable.

I thought it would be fun to put my own spin on a super popular saying {or mindset?} right now. I was inspired by a fun girls' trip down to Round Top, Texas for some serious junkin' and fun. My friend, Amy, and I tore it up from sun up to sun down on Wednesday down in flea market heaven. It was a BLAST! I can't wait to share some photos and finds from our trip next week on here. But first, download this free printable below.

Updating an Exterior Door

Our new green front door just makes me smile!
Below are a few tips I picked up on Updating an Exterior Door.

I've been excited to show you guys our new front door! In a couple of weeks, I'll be posting about our spring front porch in its entirety...but I just couldn't wait to show you all some {close up} door photos below!

How to Plant a Birdcage

Hi everyone, it's Rita from Pink Polka Dot Creations!

Today I am here with a really fun project for spring. I am going to show you how to plant a birdcage!  I love to plant pots and planters and I look for fun unique planters all year long.  This birdcage is just from Michael's so it was an easy find, but you can use old buckets, watering cans, old coal buckets, or just about anything that will hold dirt!  You just have be sure there are holes in the bottom for the drainage.  So rusted out buckets are great! :)
All of the plants that I used in this planter are perennials, so they are really okay for me to put this outside, here in Utah!  If you are using annuals, you will want to keep your planter indoors until the weather is warm all of the time, unless of course, you already live where it is warm!
How to Plant a Bird Cage: Detailed tutorial on creating this fun piece for your yard!
To create a beautiful pot or planter, you will need at least 3 different plants.  Check out the tutorial below>>>

Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Energy Bites

These simple no-bake Peanut Butter and Oatmeal Energy Bites are easy to whip up for a fun snack...with no guilt!

I made these on a whim recently, when I was working on my kids' lunches for the week. I needed something that didn't have to sit overnight {like many bars of this variety} and would be ready instantly. This is how it all went down>>>
