I couldn't resist another set of bookmark printables for the summer season. These Bookish versions are perfect for all of you summertime readers (and the year-round readers, too). There are five different versions and all are perfect to keep your summer novels in check. They make adorable little gifts, too. Download these Bookish printables below.

Bookish Bookmarks
While I'm a year-round reader, I tend to devour quite a few more books during the summer season. A lighter schedule definitely helps.  I'm thinking I'm probably not alone in that. In fact, as I type this, my summer book stack is sitting next to me...just waiting for me to open the next one. Often, I read more than one at a time (is that weird?). So, I go through bookmarks like crazy. I thought these five bookish versions would be perfect to get us all through the season of extra reading time. Grab these below.

Bookish Bookmarks

I love the word bookish. Over the past few years, reading is my main way to relax, so I feel like I identify with the word, bookish, even more. I mean...who can resist being transported to a world within a book? I'm sharing some of my favorite summer reads below, as well.

5 Summer Book Ideas

I read a variety of stuff, mostly fiction (a great deal of historical fiction). But here are just a couple of my top picks for summer reads (these will house your bookish bookmarks perfectly!). I've read them all and they're definitely in my favorites list. Most were readily available at my library, but I've linked them all to Amazon, in case you want to purchase a hard copy or one for your Kindle.
  • The Fountains of Silence by Ruta Sepetys
    • A great historical fiction read about Madrid in the 1950s under the rule of General Francisco Franco. The story focuses on young Daniel Matheson and his relationship with his hotel's maid, Ana. It was one of those books I couldn't put down. And now, I'm wanting to travel to Madrid.
  • The Dutch House by Ann Patchett
    • This one is about the aptly names Dutch House, a beautiful estate outside of Philadelphia. Being someone who loves all things home and domestic, the descriptions revolving around this home were so interesting to me. The main story is about a brother and sister who grow up in the home...with, well, that classic evil step mother. It's a great read. Love the dynamic between the siblings.
  • Secrets of a Charmed Life by Susan Meissner
    • Another historical fiction...this time about England during World War II. If you're a fan of Kristin Hannah's The Nightingale (I definitely am), this is along those lines, but from the vantage point of the British and the London Blitz. Just like the Nightingale, it is also about two sisters, but their lives are totally changed in this book into something they never imagined. It is a wonderfully written book.
  • This Tender Land by William Kent Krueger
    • In my opinion, this felt like the perfect cross between Delia Owen's Where the Crawdads Sing and Lisa Wingate's Before We Were Yours (both great reads). This book follows orphan Odie Banion, along with his brother and two friends in a canoe up the Mississippi. It includes all of their dangerous, as well as heartfelt, adventures along the way. I liked this so much that my husband read it, as well, and liked it, too.
  • The Inspector Gamache Series from Louise Penny
    • If you're a series reader, you'll fall in love with the wonderful characters in this one. You'll also fall in love with the town of Three Pines, a fictional spot in Canada. The series revolves around Chief Inspector Armand Gamache of the Surêté du Québec and his cases, as well as his private life. I've truly fallen in love with these people in these books. The first book of the series is Still Life.

Printing and Embellishing Your Bookish Bookmarks

These bookmarks are perfect on their own, but adding a tassel or ribbon can really take them up a notch...making them perfect for gift-giving. My book club will be receiving these at our next meet up.

Supplies for Bookmarks

Simply print, cut out, and embellish your bookmarks to your liking. This would be an enjoyable kids' activity, too, especially if you incorporate the homemade tassel-making into the fun.

Also, I have this even-simpler method of embellishing your bookmarks. I like to take a small, 3/8" width grosgrain ribbon and make a simple loop tie at the top. It's so easy, but so cute, too. Just cut a piece of ribbon just a tad longer than your bookmark. Punch your bookmark with the 1/8" hole punch (like I mentioned above), and loop your ribbon through the hole.

They look really fun with an embellishment, or without, too!

Above, you can see what each of the bookmarks say. One was left intentionally blank. The sayings are:
  • bookish
  • up all night
  • happy place
  • all booked up
