I've actually done quite a few watermelon designs over the years, but I certainly couldn't resist a brand new watermelon printable for the summer series. It's like the unofficial fruit of summertime, right? And I've always wanted to try a pattern of seeds...spittin' contest, anyone? Ha! Hoping you enjoy all three options for this watermelon printable below.

Watermelon Printable
We ate our first watermelon of the season last week. It was sweet, perfect, and summery. And looking at the colors (green and dark pink) inside the melon, I love that they are the perfect complementary colors, falling directly across from one another in the color wheel. That makes those colors perfect for art, too. It's kind of the perfect balance in one's eye, even if it's subliminal. Hoping you love those bright summery colors in this watermelon printable below.

When I was a kid, growing up in Austin, Texas, everyone always went to the Luling Watermelon Thump every summer. It was a grand-ol' festival at the end of every June celebrating all things watermelon (like alllllll things). The design of today's printables reminds me of that sweet festival. The gingham backgrounds are reminiscent of a summertime picnic tablecloth and the seeds are just a wink to a watermelon seed spitting contest. If you're ever in central Texas at the end of June, make sure to head to the Luling Watermelon Thump for a great time. But, since we can't enjoy it this year, let's print some watermelon designs, shall we?

Three Watermelon Printable Options

Each of these printables all have the signature watermelon tilted in the center, with the wording: "hello, summer" on the top.
  • Pictured above left is the "seeded" option.
  • If you prefer something a bit less busy, the middle one (pictured above) with just the gingham background, is a good one.
  • And the other option (pictured above right) is a plain white background. It will save you a bit of ink.

Hello, Summer Printable
I honestly really like the seeded version. Originally, I had just seeds on this, but they honestly looked like bugs, so I added the gingham and it seemed to make more sense (at least, I hope it does).

The plain gingham one is also super summery, just a bit less fussy.

Printing and Using Your Watermelon Printable

  • These prints are for personal use. However, if you have a small shop, you can purchase a commercial license here
  • These prints are available in both 8x10" and 5x7" sizes. The lettering was a bit much for a 4x6" size, so I kept it to the other sizes this time around.
  • These prints come in both JPEG and PDF designs. On the 5x7" designs, the PDFs have two copies per page (one to keep and one to share). I do this to reduce paper waste, but it's become a really popular option among readers.
  • The PDF formats are perfect for easy, at-home printing. Be sure to use letter-sized white cardstock for either the 5x7" or 8x10" designs. You'll just print, trim, and frame.
  • The JPEG images can be printed like photos or images. You can even upload them to your favorite photo printing spot.

  3. Kristi,
You've done it again - made a printable so cute you want to take a bite out of that watermelon! I've been painting wooden "slice" watermelons for my summer vignette in the dining room, and this printable deserves a place right beside it! Thank you so much - you're a creative genius!
