Free Fall Recipe Illustration Printable

This post for a recipe illustration printable contains affiliate links. As an Amazon affiliate, I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

I've seriously always wanted to create a detailed recipe illustration in printable form. I figured fall was a great time to do that...since it sort of kicks off the unofficial season of baked goods. This particular recipe illustration is for our family's favorite pumpkin bread recipe, which was given to me by my college roommate almost 20 years ago. Download this pretty print for your fall kitchen decor below.

Ginger...this post is for you, my friend. Thank you for introducing me to this delicious treat all those years ago.

Sometimes subtle seasonal decor is my favorite of all. Having a framed recipe illustration in the kitchen that shares a delicious fall treat is the perfect way to sneak in a bit of decor without a lot of extra clutter. It's also budget-friendly...use a frame you already have on hand to display your printable. It's instant decor.

Download this free printable below in two different size options.

Fall Recipe Illustration Printable

The pumpkin bread recipe featured on this printable is a legit recipe, y'all. You can make it right off of the pretty printable itself. I had to really make the directions fairly concise to fit it into the illustration, but it's a tough one to mess up. This was one of my must-haves in the current Fall Printable Series. I just had to have a recipe print!
Pumpkin Bread Recipe
This recipe came from my sweet college roommate, Ginger. It was actually her husband's recipe (then fiancĂ©). Four of us girls lived in a cute little house in Abilene, Texas our senior year of college. My bedroom was right off the kitchen. As I was studying in there one afternoon, the most incredible smell came wafting through the door. I stepped into the kitchen to find Ginger and Cody baking up a storm. There were loaves of pumpkin bread everywhere and it was heavenly. We ate on that stuff the entire fall (we were many batches in by that point) and I loved every bit of it. It's now been in my own keepsake cookbook for the past 20 years and my kids love it for breakfast during the fall. Since it's definitely one of our fall favorites, I knew it just had to go into printable form in a recipe illustration.

I've altered the original recipe of Ginger's just slightly (to protect its original family legend status and because my youngest son is a vanilla-nut so I added a bit of that). He loves the stuff and can't handle baked goods without it. I had to keep the vanilla in the recipe illustration because, well...vanilla beans, y'all. They're cute.

Recipe Illustration Printable
My mother-in-law has always had a framed recipe for "Cinnamon Supper Cake" on her counter and it made me realize that recipes really do make the best decor. I designed this printable to be able to seamlessly fit into many different styles of homes, too. It's fairly neutral, in nature, making it easy to frame and display. If you really want to make it pop, use a frame with a mat since the slight buffalo checked background goes straight up to the edges of the design. UPDATE: after several reader requests, I also did a printable illustration of my mother-in-law's Cinnamon Supper Cake (another free download for your kitchen decor).

Printing and Using Your Recipe Illustration

  • This printable is available in two sizes and formats:
    • 8x10" JPEG or PDF
    • 5x7" JPEG or two-designs-to-a-page PDF
    • I did not do our traditional 4x6" for a specific reason this time around. Since a lot of the ingredients are fairly detailed and small on this print, I realized they wouldn't have been very readable on the end result in that 4x6" size. So, we're sticking with just the 8x10" and 5x7" versions today.
  • The 8x10" or 5x7" PDFs can be easily printed at home. Both are designed to be printed onto letter-sized white cardstock (cardstock is the best to use when printing printables...try to avoid regular or copier paper). Just trim your prints after they're printed for simple framing. The 5x7" PDF has two of the prints per page (to avoid wasting paper). There is one to keep and one to share (these would make lovely gifts this season...especially if they're packaged up with a loaf of delicious pumpkin bread).
  • You can print the JPEG formats just like you'd print any type of photo image. You can even upload them to your favorite photo printing company.

  2. This one is officially my favorite, too! I love so many things about your post today, Kristi. First off, we are about 3.5 hours west of Abilene, so "Howdy" from FAR West Texas! We have a local commercial pumpkin grower here and my boys are fortunate to get to take a school field trip out to the farm every fall. They bring home gobs of pie pumpkins, which we roast, puree, and put up for baking throughout the fall and holiday season. It has been a tremendous blessing to be able to create family traditions around this, including teaching the boys to bake with my grandmother's pumpkin cake recipe. This was the recipe I learned to bake with and I still remember how I felt when my dad told me that my cake tasted even better than his mama's (but also told me never to tell his mama he said that!). My boys and I bake it multiple time throughout the fall, but they also really look forward to baking pumpkin bread and taking it to teachers, coaches, and other special people in their lives. I share ALL THIS to say that this simple framed printable on kitchen counter or shelf will symbolize so much more for us than a single element of fall, I am truly grateful that you chose to share your incredible talent to bless people like you do.

P.S. How many of your subscribers do you think will also be Googling "Cinnamon Supper Cake" today? I don't know that I've ever heard of this, but can't imagine going another day without it in my life!

    1. Hi Staci-- Thank you so much for the sweet comment...so kind of you to take the time! I bet I've either lived in or been through the area you live, as well. My in-laws used to live in Pecos and we used to live up in Muleshoe...so we have west Texas covered! It's such a great area. We had friends with a pumpkin patch when we lived up there, too...it was so much fun! And I LOVE the story of your grandmother's pumpkin cake...mum's the word that yours is better! ;) Oh, and I've been texting with my Mother-In-Law today. I've got the recipe now and plan to do a similar creation with it...kind of a nice finale to the series, I think? Hope you have a great rest of your week! xoxo

    1. Hi Diana-- I can't tell you how much it means to me knowing you've enjoyed the prints for so long. That made my day! I have been texting with my mother-in-law this afternoon and now have the recipe. She and I both agreed that it needs to become a printable, too. I plan to use it as a bit of a finale to the series, so look for it around the 30th! Thank you so much. xoxo

    1. Thanks so much, Tamalita! I've been burning a pumpkin candle the last few days which makes me think something pumpkin-y is in the oven! I might need to make that a reality! Appreciate your kind words. xoxo
