25+ Free Farmhouse Font Downloads

Not only do I have over 25 free farmhouse font downloads for you today, I also have several farmhouse font pairing ideas I'm sharing, as well. It includes tips to pair your own fonts together, too. If you enjoy a good farmhouse font like I do, you're going to love all of these freebies and ideas.

Farmhouse Font Downloads
I'm sure the cat's out of the bag by now. I seriously love a good font. I just purchased a new desktop computer and it took me two days just to install my massive font library (we're talking thousands...and that was after I paired them down). Addicted. To. Fonts. I especially adore a good, free, farmhouse font. While my home doesn't necessarily have that popular farmhouse style, I do enjoy working with this style in the print and graphic capacity. It's a nice, clean style that has room for whimsy (my favorite). Download your favorite farmhouse font (or even 25 of them) below.

Farmhouse Font Fun

Besides the fabulous farmhouse font downloads listed below, I have an entire gallery full of thousands of free fonts that I've curated over the past eight years. You can find that collection here.

But, today, we're chatting about the pretty feeling of a good, farmhouse font. When we lived up in the Texas panhandle (15 years ago now), we lived in and amongst a wonderful farming community. A good amount of our friends lived in actual farmhouses out in rural parts of the state. The vintage appeal of farmhouse living was super interesting to me at the time (I'm a city mouse, but loved that farmy feel that small town gave me). I often looked for more rustic pieces to fill our home to mimic that look around us so prevalently. Fast forward to today and it seems like everyone is wanting that feeling in their homes. Farmhouse (as an adjective) exudes comfort and vintage in a workable, pretty way. These 25+ Free Farmhouse Font Downloads are perfect for you to use in creations in your own home...on signs, with vinyl, making printables, and so much more.
Font Pairing Ideas
And, as I mentioned, I also included several helpful font pairing ideas and tips. They're at the bottom of this post...feel free to scroll ahead and check them out.

Below are some seriously gorgeous farmhouse font downloads. Some are great for intricate sign-making, some fabulous for making your own prints to frame and display. You can also just print them out and use them for home labeling. The possibilities are endless with these pretties.

Installing Your Farmhouse Font Downloads

  • I'm a Mac user (since 1997...I sadly know nothing of how a PC works, y'all). But, there is a super-thorough font installation guide for PC users here on Wikihow.
  • To install these farmhouse fonts on a Mac (since this is what I use, I can speak to that the best), follow my tutorial below:
How to Install Fonts

    • Installing Fonts on A Mac:

      • After downloading your font, open your download folder (or wherever you've downloaded your font to).
      • Open the folder of the font (there may not be one, it may just be the actual file, in which case, you won't have to open a folder).
      • Double click the .ttf or .otf file (I prefer .otf. or Open Type Format files if they're available, they can be resized and manipulated without compromising quality. But, they're not always available).

Installing Fonts
      • Once you've double clicked the .ttf or .otf file, your dialog box should automatically pop up.
      • Click 'Install Font' and your installation will automatically begin (it takes about two seconds, total).
      • Check your Font Book to make sure it's there and you can start using your new font immediately.

Farmhouse Font Pairing Ideas

While all of the above farmhouse font downloads look great on their own, some are even better together (aren't we all better together, y'all?). Below, I've included some font pairing ideas for you to put into practice on your own creations. The best piece of advice I can give? Have fun with your fonts! But, there are a few rules of thumb for font pairing:
  • Pair a thicker font with a skinny font.
  • Pair a script font with a print font (combine this with the thicker/skinny idea and you're golden).
  • I also like to do all caps with one font and pair it with a script font in all lowercase, but that's just my own preference.
    • When I do the above pairing, I often do the script font on "top", allowing it to kind of sit on the all-caps font. The all-caps font acts as a nice "base". You can see how I did that in the first font combination illustrated below.
Font Pairing Ideas
The above combinations are the following farmhouse fonts:

  12. Hello Kristi, I just love all your farmhouse style fonts. Thank you for sharing. I was wondering when you create your farmhouse signs with the different fonts are you creating these in word? if not what program are you using?

    1. Hi there! Thank you so much. I appreciate you stopping by. Personally, I do most of my design work in Photoshop or Illustrator, but my background is in graphic design, so those are the programs I was trained in. I know a lot of folks use the program, "Canva", which I believe is free for those dabbling in design and such. For signs, I use the software that came with my Silhouette machine. I hope this helps a bit. Happy to answer any other questions. xoxo

  14. Kristi,
You are such a giving and talented blogger. I downloaded a few more of the farmhouse fonts, and I enjoy using them in cards I make or letters I write. I loved those lavender prints you gave us earlier this year and printed one out to hang in my bathroom. I use so many of your printables, I should pay you for all of them - but I love the free ones!!!
Thank you so much for sharing and giving so much of yourself. I wish you many blessings in the coming year.

  17. These are great! Any advise for using the Lemon Tuesday font on Sillhouette? I looks like a lot of little pieces but it's so cool!

    1. Hi Ashley- Thanks so much. I honestly would probably steer away from fonts like Lemon Tuesday on a Silhouette or Cricut. When a font is "brushy" or super textured, it can be a nightmare to weed (if you don't have any issues with cutting, beforehand). I tend to look for fonts that are slightly thicker with a consistency to them. Hoping that helps a bit! xoxo
