It's probably obvious, we're having a garage sale this weekend. In the ten years we've been in our home, with my parents' deaths, and now becoming empty nesters, we have a lot of stuff that we're ready to purge. We plan to downsize in the next year or so and this is the first step. I created these free garage sale printables to help make our sale a bit cuter. They're easy to use. Download yours below.
Free Garage Sale Printables
Over the years, we've had our share of garage sales. But, this weekend's takes the cake for sure. I've kept most of my parents' estate items for over five years. And now, we're about to downsize. Rather than rent a storage unit for stuff I'll probably never revisit, we're doing the garage sale of all garage sales this weekend (with a 50% chance of rain...yippee!). I've shared a few of my garage sale tips below. We usually pull in four figures for our sales...and hoping for that and more this weekend!
About the Free Garage Sale Printables
- These printables are super simple. They're 8x10" designs in available in both JPEG and PDF options.
- Download, print, and affix to a yard sign (find these on Amazon here).
- There is space on the sign for your address or dates of sale.
- The fun vintage vibe makes them a bit extra!
Garage Sale Tips for Success
- Label EVERYTHING! Old fashioned masking tape and a Sharpie still work the best. I go the extra mile and tape things together (all four coasters, sets of kitchen towels, etc.), then label them and add a reasonable price.
- Start gathering items weeks in advance from the house, basement, garage, and attic.
- Wash clothing, clean dirt off furniture, and wipe down other items to make them more appealing.
- Test electronics to ensure they work. Have an extension cord or power strip available during the sale for customers to test items.
- Group items logically by category, such as clothing, kitchenware, and toys.
- Keep prices low to encourage quick sales. As a rule of thumb, price items at around 10% of their retail cost for gently used goods, and up to 50% for new items with tags.
- Use the 50/30/10 rule as a starting point: 50% of the retail price for like-new items, 30% for slightly used, and 10% for well-used items.
- Don't overprice sentimental items; focus on getting rid of clutter.
- Bundle low-priced items to sell them faster, such as "All books $1" or "Fill a bag for $5".
- Price items in increments of 25 cents to avoid dealing with pennies.
- Have options for cashless sales: Venmo, CashApp, etc.
