This post for a Valentine Banner contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

I was needing an extra splash of seasonal prettiness in my kitchen, so I created this Valentine Banner for the shelf over my stove. I was so happy with it that I thought you all might enjoy it for your home or office, too. And, it doesn't even have to be a banner...you could just print and display the sweet Air Mail envelopes as a vignette on their own. Download all of these pieces below.

I really love how this banner looks above the stove. I think it's the perfect little touch of Valentine's in the space. And I've always loved a slightly-vintage feeling Air Mail-style envelope (especially if it's French), so I added in some nods to that in these designs, as well. The beauty of a printable banner like this is you can make it as long as you like. You could print several copies of the envelope sheet to keep the fun going (and going and going...). The printable has two "outer" addressed envelopes (both to French Valentine addresses...ooh la la!), and then there is one back of an envelope with a heart seal over the closure. There are both red and pink hearts to add in for extra interest (more on that below).

Above is a close up of the envelope addressed to "Mademoiselle Valentine" (she sounds so chic, doesn't she?). The address portion is in light pink writing, but I think that adds to the overall vintage feel. I included a postmark dated February 14, 1956, with the piece of mail being sent from New York to Paris, France.

Pink White Banner
Above, you can see the other addressed envelope, heading to a "Monsieur Valentine" (located on Cupid Boulevard, of course). The only major difference in the two envelope designs is the Air Mail/Par Avion stamp in the upper lefthand corners.

I did use the same faux New York postmark on both envelopes.

Be sure to read how I set up the hearts for the banner in the next section. I wanted to make these as user-friendly as possible.

Printing and Using this Valentine Banner

This banner is for personal use. However, if you do want to carry the printed version in your small shop or business (no digital reselling is ever allowed), you can purchase a commercial license here

Valentine's Printables

Supplies:

  • envelope downloads (available below)
  • pattern or heart downloads (available below)
    • I know a lot of you may have different size craft punches, even in the heart shape. I set this up for you to be able to utilize whatever punch size you have (or want to purchase). And if you're not someone who has a thing for craft punches (they really are fun to use!), I also included a set of printable and patterned hearts ready to be cut out with scissors...that way you won't need to purchase anything.
  • heart punch (again, the paper patterns are available in three sizes for different punch sizes)- if you don't already have a heart punch, here are some of my favorites:
  • red and white baker's twine or pink and white baker's twine
  • white, letter-sized cardstock for printing your banner (regular paper is too thin for banners of this nature)
  • hole punch (as usual, I do highly recommend this smaller, 1/8" hole punch, so it doesn't take away from the banner's design)
  • scissors
  • optional: paper trimmer to cut the envelopes out easily...especially if you're cutting quite a few

Directions:

Heart Punch
  • Print your downloads onto the cardstock.
  • Cut out all envelopes and heart shapes.
  • If using the printable patterns for a heart punch, cut the patterns into strips (as pictured above) and use your punch on each square to get your desired number of hearts.
  • Hole punch each end of each printed piece and string your baker's twine through to make your banner (I find it helpful to use Scotch tape on the end of my twine for easier stringing).
  • Feel free to print as many copies of your download as needed for your desired length.

Command Hooks
I absolutely love using Command Hooks (as pictured above) to hang up my banners. I use these on my fireplace mantel, above my built-in china cabinet for birthday banners, and just about everywhere I need to hang something. What did we do before Command Hooks?

I tied on an extra bit of the baker's twine so the hook wasn't too noticeable.

Again, there are several options for the hearts, including a page of ready-to-cut hearts if you prefer not to use a heart punch.

All of these downloads are PDF formats since it's a banner print and not a framable one.
