Fall Dining Table Decor Ideas

This post for fall dining table decor ideas contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

My fall dining table is a bit on the au naturel side this year. The majority of the items used were from the produce department at the store...and my backyard. Hoping you enjoy these simple fall dining table decor ideas.
Natural Fall Tablescape
This week, I've partnered with loads of my favorite home decor bloggers in a lovely fall blog hop. I signed up for the fall dining table decor ideas portion of the hop...I'm delighted to share my dining room (in all her autumnal glory) with you today. Several others are also sharing their beautiful fall tablescapes, too. Check it all out below.

Fall Dining Table Decor Ideas

Fall Decor Blog Hop
I have all of my friends' links to their fall ideas at the end of this post...there are truly some fantastic ideas you can grab for your own home this season in this week's blog hop.

Glowing Centerpiece
I host Thanksgiving every year for my side of the family. It's the time of year that I try to make our home as welcoming as possible. I love the art of hospitality and creating a memorable Thanksgiving, year after year. This year will be a tough one. As many of you know, we unexpectedly lost my mother in June...she was gone within minutes of having a massive stroke. It was a rough summer. We're still all trying to find that new normal, and honestly, we're dreading the holidays without her. My dad and I have been working on Thanksgiving plans, already, though...we're early-bird planners. We want to use all of her favorite things around the table this year: her glasses, her china, her flatware...everything.

Easy Fall Centerpiece
These fall dining table decor ideas have a lot of her items incorporated. The wheat dishes belonged to her late brother. The crystal was her absolute favorite...it is a Waterford pattern that has been in our family for years. She loved it and used it at every special occasion she could (if these glasses could talk, y'all). The flatware I used today is my own, but my dad plans to bring over my mom's set before Thanksgiving.

I wanted to put together a simple tablescape playing off of the china I used...so we went with a *mostly* natural theme. It was great for the budget, too.

Fall Table Runner Ideas

Items Used on My Fall Dining Table

Besides the natural elements, I used wrapping paper as a base for the entire tablescape. I grabbed these polka dotted rolls at my Tuesday Morning. After the meal, I just toss it and my table is pretty much clean from any spills. I laid my reversible table runner that I made last year in this post on top of the wrapping paper for extra texture. The fall side of the runner reads Gather Together.

Dollar Tree Hurricanes
To continue the polka dot theme, I grabbed some vases from Dollar Tree and jazzed them up with vinyl dots I cut out on my Silhouette Cameo

Check out how this tablescape came together in the video I created below:

Dollar Tree Centerpiece
Besides the wrapping paper, my reversible table runner, and the polka dot vases (which I'm using here as hurricanes with candles), I also grabbed the smaller gold patterned votives at the Dollar Tree, too. The wrapping paper kind of set the tone for a gold-toned table. I love how this made everything glow a bit. The rims of the wheat china pieces also have gold, so it all ties together well.

Fall Centerpiece with Apples
The greenery is straight out of my backyard. In the late summer/early fall, the massive vine that smothers our chain link fence has the most beautiful red berries that bud. To be clear, I'm 99% sure they're poisonous, but we no longer have little kids around our Thanksgiving table, so I'm not worried about anyone devouring the poisonous centerpiece anytime soon. But, if you do have littles, use caution with random backyard berries. I just went out and cut various lengths of the vine. I've had this tablescape in place for over a week and the berries still look wonderful, so this can definitely be put together a day or two before you need your centerpiece.

Polka Dot Centerpiece Ideas
After I placed the greenery around the candles, I used both Fuji and Granny Smith Apples all over the place. I used real apples...sticking to the natural theme. I added in the little beaded corn cobs for some extra gold/yellow...to coordinate with the china. While they're not real, I do like the texture the beads add...they were also from Dollar Tree (this table definitely stayed in budget!).

Gorgeous Fall Tablescape
I just love a glowing centerpiece...
especially this time of the year.

Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas
One investment I made eons ago (seriously, I was like 22 when I bought these) was in these wooden chargers you can see under my plates. I grabbed them at Pier One. I was just out of college, not married, but I loved having people over to my condo for dinner all the time. I bought between 2-4 chargers a month on my tight budget...eventually amassing over a dozen of them. I still have them and use them constantly. They clean up nicely with furniture polish. I found some super similar ones on Amazon here, if you're in the market for a nice set of chargers.

You can see my church plate wall in the background, above.

Fall Dining Room Buffet Decor
I carried the apple theme over to my red buffet on the back wall in this room (they're filling up the lantern). You can grab the free printable (leopard print!) banner here...it was Friday's free print of the week.

Easy Thanksgiving Centerpiece
It's hard to believe there isn't a single pumpkin on the table this year.

Simple Centerpiece Ideas
Even with the candles all aglow, the colors of the table and room look so different in here at different times of the day.

Natural Dining Room Ideas
I also added some new, heavier drapes in here for fall and winter (my previous drapes were super summery and thin). I grabbed these velvet panels on Amazon here (I bought Aqua Mist).

Vintage Wheat China
I mentioned this vintage set of china on my Instagram over the weekend. It belonged to my late uncle (my mother's brother). It's so fallish that we only use it a few times of the year. But whenever anyone sits down at the table, they exclaim, "wheat!".

Waterford Marquis Crystal
And as I mentioned, my mother's Waterford is kind of the star of the table, at least in my eyes. Knowing how much she loved these pieces makes them even more special to use. Cheers!

Absolutely LOVE that you are using wrapping paper as the 'base' of your table...brilliant. May truly copy that idea this Thanksgiving. Also...those dotted vases are brilliant as well. 14. The Waterford crystal is a tribute to your mother, and when I saw the wheat dishes-it was a tribute to my mother! We used them as everyday dishes when I was a kid, and seeing them brought me right back home again. Thank you for bringing this ray of sunshine to me today! I love your printables and look forward to Saturday to get a sweet surprise.

  15. Your dining room is fabulous!! I love your dining room table decor, it is just gorgeous. Bright and beautiful! I was where you are emotionally 17 years ago October 26. My Mom was in a coma within an hour of getting a bad headache and she didn't come back. There were no warning signs and we were all in shock for quite a while. Everything changed yet remained the same. I miss her so much everyday. We had a wonderful relationship and due to a paralyzing illness for me in 2000, we got to spend more time together. There were so many good things come out of my illness. Dad came to live with us 2 years after Mom passed and he got to have a special reationship with our son for 5 years, before he passed away. It was a different world again for our family, but we manage to keep together and to always have Mom and Dad in our lives. Prayerful hugs. Thank you for sharing your passion with us. Germaine

Appreciate your sweet words and for sharing your heart. I'm so glad you stopped by. xoxo
