How to Make a Key Fob Wristlet

I made this Key Fob Wristlet for today's post, which is sponsored by Habitat for Humanity. I am THRILLED to partner with them all of the month to share how we can all make a difference!

This cute Key Fob Wristlet project is the perfect scrap buster for your fabric stash. It makes a great housewarming gift to a new homeowner, too! See how to make your own cute key fob below.

As I mentioned, I'm creating this post for the Key Fob Wristlet in partnership with my friends at Habitat for Humanity. From now through the end of the month, you have a great way to support their fantastic mission. Go here to learn more and donate to this cause. See this key fob tutorial and get even more information below.

How to Make a Key Fob Wristlet

Habitat Key Fob
I feel like a key is the perfect symbol of home. It unlocks the door to your life, comfort, family, and so much more. This Key Fob Wristlet tutorial is the perfect way to share this fantastic campaign for Habitat for Humanity with you. I have a complete video tutorial for you at the end of the post on creating your own Key Fob Wristlet, but first, I want to tell you why HOME IS THE KEY!

Key Fob Gift

Habitat for Humanity has asked us to share one key area of our own homes. This, as you may be aware, is our family room (I shared it HERE in more detail). While it's a somewhat hidden space, tucked between the kitchen and garage...it's still the key area for our home because it's where I can most often find my entire family. We are most happy when we're sharing this space together...watching television, reading books, playing games together. But, so many families not only don't have a key area to their home...they don't have a home. And many can't afford other essentials in order to pay for the homes they do have.

One in four households in the U.S. pays more than 30 percent of income for housing and may have difficulty affording necessities such as food or clothing. Virtually nowhere in the U.S. can a full-time employee earning minimum wage afford a one-bedroom apartment. Even two such jobs won’t rent a two-bedroom apartment in 29 states and the District of Columbia.

Home is the Key is Habitat for Humanity’s national cause campaign to address the nation’s rising affordable housing crisis. Visit habitat.org/homeisthekey to make a donation to this incredible cause.

Key Area of Home

You can support the Habitat for Humanity cause three simple ways this month: VISIT, SHOP, and SHARE!
FIRST (and most important!):
Visit habitat.org/homeisthekey to make a donation.

Shop:

  • At Home Stores: In addition to featuring Habitat as the register fundraiser throughout April, At Home will sell specialty patio umbrellas and spring coaster sets in store to give back to Habitat.
  • Chico’s FAS: Donate in-store or online at any of the Chico’s FAS brands mentioned below, in addition to purchasing specialty products that give back at each store:
  • Kum & Go Convenience Stores: 10 cents of every specially marked water bottle sold will be donated to Habitat, and customers will have the opportunity to donate additional funds at checkout.
Share:
  • Nissan will donate $1 every time #HomeIsTheKey is shared on social media in April.
  • Schneider Electric: Building on an 18-year partnership with Habitat,  Schneider Electric will promote the campaign and drive donations through its social channels throughout the month (look for their shares that you can share, too!).
Easy Key Fob

Over the past 40 years, Habitat for Humanity has built thousands of homes in the United States and around the world, creating transformational change for individuals, families and even communities.

Habitat is one of the biggest affordable housing providers, building strength, stability and self-reliance through shelter. Help us spread the word in April using #HomeIsTheKey on social media.

  1. This is an adorable key fob. It is a great gift for a new homeowner. Habitat is a great organization and all of us can help by volunteering, donating unwanted items and money.
