Blending Christmas Decor Styles

Today's post for Blending Christmas Decor Styles is brought to you by Tree Classics.

I've been working in our front room blending Christmas decor styles from vintage to classic.
Come check out how it all came together below.

My collection of Christmas decor can best be described as a whole lot of hodge podge, y'all. I have inherited a great deal of my Christmas decorations from relatives...and I love putting it all out because it reminds me of those special people. And I've also added to my decor over the years, as well. Trying to mix my vintage items with my recent (more classic) items I've acquired is always a fun little challenge. This year, I've added a beautiful new tree from Tree Classics, as well as ornaments and a skirt to my front room decor. I mixed my new items with a lot of goodies I already had before and I'm really happy with how it all came together.

The centerpiece of the room is this new Christmas tree that we really love. This Classic Fraser Fir Christmas Tree with Real-Feel ™and Clear LED Lights is from Tree Classics. It went together beautifully and really brought this room together. The ornaments are also from Tree Classics and are the Burgundy & Gold Ornament Set. And I'm also enjoying the Buttoned Up Quilted Velvet Skirt, also from Tree Classics. I mixed my burlap ribbon with red mesh ribbon, too, in order to tie in that vintage aspect that a lot of the other Christmas decor in the room has. It was a pretty subtle touch, but I'm happy with how it all came together.

I've had this hearth for about 12 years now...I had it built for a previous home that didn't have a fireplace (and how would Santa get in, right?). In our last home, it was in our bedroom. But we have a bit more space here and it worked out well in this front room. I used my old metal stockings that I've had for years in here...they have both a classic and vintage feel to them.

They have an aged patina on them that lends to that vintage feel.
I think the chunky berry garland really anchors these metal stockings.

I probably redid the piano area several times. I'm slightly nervous about it...I want it to look pretty as well as function well for us this year. We're having a Christmas piano recital over here for my kids' piano teacher (and all of her other students) in early December. Her daughter, Carlie (an amazing vocalist) will be performing, too. I'm beyond excited to be hosting this...and since this room is fairly open, it will be the perfect spot for our little Christmas concert.

I made the JOY sign last year (see its tutorial here). And my two ceramic vintage trees are some of my absolute favorite things ever. The larger tree used to belong to my mother. I remember it sitting in our entry hall during holidays as a kid.

These vintage pillows coordinate with the chairs in here...and kind of bring that vintage vibe to these more classic-feeling chairs.

I also love how the tree's lights reflect in the windows, too.

The ornament sets from Tree Classics were truly lovely.

Here's just a quick tip (from my days working in a floral shop): I like to use floral wire to secure all of my ribbons and mesh vertically to my Christmas trees.

I also like to layer my ornaments...and put some of them in the middle of the tree, working my way out. I think this achieves a great deal of depth to a Christmas tree.

Loving all the glitter detail on some of the ornaments.

The bow on top is a mix of all of my ribbons and mesh.
And my son insisted on the star (of course!).

  1. Beautiful tree and Christmas mantle!! The piano with the Joy sign looks amazing!! You did a spectacular job!! Thanks for the tip on the wire to keep the mesh in place. I bought mesh this past weekend to put on the tree this year. I always have ribbon, but found burlap/red mesh at Kirkland's that I couldn't pass up :) Love your decorations!!

  10. Your room looks great, all the decorations came together gorgeously, due to your talent. That tree is gorgeous, and I especially love the depth and color of that beautiful tree skirt! It really sets off the tree so beautifully.

  11. What a lovely room. I have that mulled cider candle! Smells really good. I too have an antique mantle I've brought to a new house, this time in the bedroom.
I'm loving those stockings though. Metal! I've never seen that. My kids' stockings were knitted by my husband's grandmother, but those things were HUGE and stretched forever! LOL
I'm enjoying your blog very much, you're very talented. Thank you for all the printables I've gleaned. :)
