Big day's next week, y'all. I'm not even a little ready...well, okay, my dining room is. But, me, not so much. How are we knocking on the door of the holidays already? I'm on the verge of jumping up and down with excitement or needing a paper bag to breathe in. Really. Are you ready for Thanksgiving? Today, I'm sharing how I took the stress out of the table decor part this year...and went for something super simple, yet pretty and thoughtful, too. Grab your own free printable 'Give Thanks' tags below for a last minute touch to your turkey day table.

My family is pretty low-key. When I do all of the over-the-top stuff for holiday dinners, I may get ribbed a bit. So, this year, I'm just keeping it simple...ish

Our dining room is starting to take on a more vintage vibe, but I have inherited a lot of very traditional-feeling china and crystal from some of my family members that I still want to incorporate, especially during the holiday season. The trick is getting it all to work together. My actual dining table belonged to my late uncle. I have many items in my home from him and other loved ones that I love to use...in a way, it makes it feel like they're still with us. This table is a very heavy, traditional piece. To break up that heaviness, I added a few yards of burlap down the middle of it to give it the more casual feel. On top of that, I placed the big produce box that I made (see that tutorial here). I filled it with fun glittery pumpkins for Thanksgiving. I plan to switch it up with red ornaments for Christmas.

I've had these dark wooden chargers for years. Since they're the same color of the table, the burlap really helps to break up the brown monotony. I feel like a fancy, pressed tablecloth is a bit too formal for our home's decor, so I really like the feel of the burlap for this one.

On top of the chargers, I used my favorite brown transferware plates. These plates and I go way back. I first ended up with a set of them after my uncle's passing. The set wasn't complete, but I still loved it...at the time I was a single gal and didn't do a whole lot of entertaining. When my husband and I were married, some sweet friends of ours, who owned an antique shop, completed our set through lots of hunting and digging. I was elated, y'all. Then, lo and behold, on our 10th anniversary, they increased our set with several special serving pieces. Thank you, Tom & Betsey...we think of you every time we use these special pieces.
This year, I used some aqua blue napkins in between plates to add a pop of color. I think it brings out the blue that is found in both the flowers and sky of the plates.

Besides setting the table for the big day, I can't forget my favorite part of Thanksgiving: the food! Ham is my personal favorite. This year, I'm serving a Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Ham in Cherrywood Flavor.

I picked a couple of Hormel Cure 81 Bone-In Hams up at Walmart, in the pork section of the meat market.

These hams are really beautiful and cook up nicely. Just add the included glaze the last fifteen minutes of cook time and you're good to go. It practically spirals itself right off the bone once it's ready. It's delicious for the holidays or any time of the year. (I honestly think my second favorite part of the holidays is leftover ham sandwiches. Who's with me?)

The 'Give Thanks' tags are a simple way to dress up your table with the Thanksgiving vibe. You can tie them to silverware, glass stems, napkins, and more.

I used simple twine and added some fresh rosemary to mine, as well. I wanted to give a bit of that outside, rustic touch to the table, too. If you decide to do this, too, just lay down three or or four sprigs of rosemary and then place your silverware on top. Tie with the twine. Then attach your tag and tie a bow with the twine. I like to use a smaller hole punch for my tags.

    1. Thanks so much, Melissa! They're called Heritage Hall and are made by Johnson Brothers. They were made from 1969-1985, but I often find them online. Your Dot & Daisy Brown pattern sounds super cute.
