I'd LOVE the Gift of Clean for Mother's Day

Thanks so much to Scotch-Brite for sponsoring today's #GiftofClean discussion.

Skip the flowers and chocolates. I kid you not, all I want for Mother's Day is the Gift of Clean. A sparkly house is at the tippy top of my list. And apparently, on the tops of lots of moms' lists. 3M Scotch-Brite is here to help.

According to a recent survey[1], 75% of moms would prefer a clean home on Mother’s Day to being served breakfast in bed. In addition, 60% of moms would most prefer a clean house over other gift options like candy, flowers or a card.

That sounds ridiculously spot on to me. Currently in the area of cleaning in my house, we're having the Great Dish Stand Off of 2014. And, by hook or by crook, I will not be the one to put those suckers away. Allow me to indulge a bit...

When I left for a conference two weeks ago {TWO WEEKS, PEOPLE}, I cleaned what was left of the dishes in the sink and set them in the dish rack {we have a stupid amount of non-dishwasher safe dishes}. I told my kids that I needed them to help dad out while I was away {it's dad's busy season right now, too} and to "be sure to put those dishes away tonight after they've dried".

I came home six days later to the above still sitting there staring at me. And don't get me started on the fact that the dish towel had tire marks on it. I'm pretty sure it was run over by a semi. And two weeks later, I am still refusing to put them away. It's the proverbial Ray and Debra Barone suitcase on the stairs.

Except, it's between my kids and me.

And I will not wave my white flag...or tire-track laden dish towel.

And, well. Insult, meet injury. I opened the cabinet where the dishes should have been placed to find the above.
Um, yeah.
Don't. Get. Me. Started.

I don't want to completely throw my guys under the bus here. I did come home to clean sheets and clean laundry {what the what?!?}.
In the daily routine of our home, though, I have different standards of clean than my kids do. When I request help with dusting, I don't mean to make patterns in it.

And toothpaste on the countertop is not "self-cleaning",
and won't "dissolve on its own".
It's gross.

So, 75% of moms, I AM WITH YOU!
For Mother's Day, I just want one little thing:
I've hinted around at this, but I'm saying it loud and clear: "Help a mother out"! Let's roll up our sleeves, pull out the vacuum and all of these awesome Scotch-Brite goodies and get our clean on. Nothing would make me smile more!

Check out some other awesome ways to get the gift of clean this Mother's Day over at the 3M Scotch-Brite website here.

And let me know...what do YOU want for Mother's Day?

  5. Laughing and nodding away like a bobble-head! All I really wanted was for SOMEONE to do the dishes on Sunday. Keep in mind, these were dishes that my oldest did not finish on Saturday at lunchtime (we weren't home for dinner). I left Sunday morning at 8 to teach Sunday School, got a text at 10 telling me I was not allowed to come home (yes, my heart leapt a bit), and did not walk in my own door until almost 6 pm (after a lovely day with the entire family over at my parents' place). First thing I saw? Sink full of dirty dishes, counter overrun with stuff that was clean when I left, and papers EVERYWHERE.

My husband did not think there was anything wrong with this. BUT. He bought jewelry, so I can't complain too much.
