Easy Firecracker Craft

This post for a Firecracker Craft contains affiliate links. I make a small portion when these links are used, at no additional cost to you.

These sweet little (faux) paper firecrackers are the perfect way to add a bit of red, white, and blue to your summertime decor. They're super easy to assemble and great for sticking in plants and such for extra patriotic decor. Download the free printables to make this firecracker craft below.

Firecracker Craft
We're having lots of red, white, and blue fun with this patriotic craft I'm sharing today. It's a simple one that takes a couple of minutes to assemble (after printing out the patterns). And you probably have everything you need on hand. See all the Americana goodness below!
Thrift Style Team

Today is also our monthly Thrifty Style Team day. Not only am I sharing some summery fun, all of my blogging friends are, as well. Everything is designed to be thrifty and budget-friendly, too. I have linked all of their projects at the bottom of this post.

Firecracker Craft

I have to say, once you start making these, it's difficult to stop. I may end up with these in every nook and cranny before long.

DISCLAIMER: These are just for decoration purposes only.

Patriotic Vignette
The patterns I used on these firecrackers have a sweet little vintage vibe. I purposefully made them in contrasting, mixed-up patterns to add a bit of extra interest. But, if you prefer, you can print several sheets of the same "rocket" for a more uniformed look. There are three sheets of patterns to utilize.

Assembling Your Firecracker Craft

I made the video below to demonstrate how to create these firecrackers from start to finish. I did include step-by-step photos and instructions below the video, if you prefer.

DIY Fourth of July Crafts

Directions:

  • Print your patterned pieces onto the white cardstock.
  • Cut out each piece.
  • Cut your ribbon to be about three inches in length. Give it two points on the end with your scissors (I show the easy way to do this in the video above).

Patriotic Crafts
  • Form the half circle piece into a cone and glue on the seam.

Patriotic Craft Ideas
  • Take the rectangle and form a tube. Glue on the seam.
  • If you'd like to make varied heights of these firecrackers, you can cut the tube to be shorter. I kept mine all the same height, but that's just another option.

Fourth of July Craft Ideas
  • Run a line of hot glue along the top edge of the tube (image 1, above).
  • Sit the cone onto the glue (image 2, above).
  • Glue in your ribbon (AKA, fuse) and skewer.

Crafts for Fourth of July
And that's it! Aren't they so fun and festive? You could also stick a few in a vase for a sweet fourth of July centerpiece, too. I trimmed my skewers a tiny bit just to vary the height of my firecrackers in the plant I have them sitting in.

These lil' firecrackers coordinate perfectly with my recent Free Vintage Fourth of July Printables (pictured above).

    1. Hi, Angie! Thank you so much for your kind words. Honestly, I'm a big HP fan, printer-wise. We bought our boys a different brand recently and regretted it (so much hassle). In my office, I have an inexpensive HP3755 and it does a great job. I'm also a part of the HP Ink of the Month club, which is awesome. They send me ink automatically so I never fun out. I hope this helps a bit! xoxo, kristi
