After I posted last week's pink vintage typewriter printable, I had several requests for a more neutral version that you can display year round. This made me giddy, y'all. I just love a cute, vintage typewriter. It took me no time at all to dream up this one! I made it available in three sizes, as well as black and white, for those of you interested in that print option. Download yours below.

I have a friend who has a vintage typewriter on display in her home. She changes out the paper in it (printed in a much larger-than usual font) to match the seasons. During the holidays, it says "Merry Christmas". During the autumn months, it's something along the lines of "Gather Here". You get the idea. Since not all of us have a fun, old typewriter to use in this manner, I thought I'd create one for the rest of us to print and frame for our own decor. Since I'm still working in loads of the survey suggestions, this one has lots of print options (I'm trying out a black and white version to see how it goes over, as well).

As you can see above, there is an option to print this vintage typewriter printable in black and white. This entire time, I thought everyone had that option with their printer (to just turn off color with a click)...many of you informed me that option is not as prevalent as I thought. Whoops. Sorry about that, y'all. While we're on the subject of reader requests, the background pattern here is gingham...definitely not buffalo check. I'm trying to cut back, y'all, promise. Any kind of check, be it gingham or buffalo is my absolute weakness. Baby steps.

Vintage Typewriter Printable Sizing Information

Since going through the reader survey, I had a bunch of folks request that printables be made available in 5x7 and 4x6 sizes, too. But, the 8x10 size was still the most popular...by a lot! And today, all of the sizes are also available in black and white (I'm kind of testing to see how that goes over). Just a bit of background on the sizing thing:
  • An 8x10" print is made into a PDF file (at least that's how I do it here on I Should Be Mopping the Floor). When it's a PDF, it will stay true to size for you.
  • However, a lot of readers have requested that the smaller sizes be made into JPEGs. I will certainly honor this request, but please note, sometimes your computer or application can automatically resize your JPEG for faster downloading speeds (this can diminish your printable's quality and often create pixelated images).
  • To combat this problem, I created the 4x6 and 5x7 sizes in two different options: JPEGs and PDFs. The PDF versions have two images per page (one to keep and one to give!). And you can print them at home without having to worry about image sizing or quality. The single JPEG images are also available, you can even upload them to a photo-printing place for easier printing, if you prefer.
  • Again, all of these size options are also available in black and white. If enough black and white designs are downloaded, I hope to offer this feature on future designs, as well.

Typewriter Art
As always, I highly recommend printing these kinds of printables onto white cardstock paper instead of regular paper. When you frame a printable that is printed on plain printer paper (not cardstock), the paper is often so thin that whatever is behind it in the frame shows through (often a grey cardboard backing that makes your pretty printable have a grey look to it). Printing on thicker white cardstock eliminates that instantly. I buy inexpensive white cardstock here on Amazon Prime for the best price that I can find.

  3. Thanks for the different options. What is the advantage to having a B&W pdf as opposed to just printing out the colored pdf in grayscale? I'm old and still want to know "why". 8-)

    1. Hi Grace! This was sort of a surprise to me, too. Many of the surveys said that their printers don't have an option to convert to B&W. Some said they only have B&W printers and the original document must already be in B&W. That was super interesting to me. Thanks for stopping by! xoxo
