Patriotic Glassine Confetti Packets

The fourth is comin', y'all! And I have a kiddo who is not into fireworks. The sounds, the sparks...it's just not his thang. I thought I'd come up with an alternative so he can enjoy the fanfare and sparkle of the FOJ, too. These Patriotic Glassine Confetti Packets have already been tried out and loved by my kiddo. They're the perfect addition to any fourth of July celebration.

I made these glassine packets from wax paper that I just ran through the sewing machine. Just rip and SPRINKLE the fun everywhere!

Patriotic Confetti Packets

These are simple to make gobs of, too...perfect for favors at your fourth of July party.

This probably seems a little much (honestly, sometimes I'm a little much, y'all), but I made my own confetti, too...well, I at least doctored up some existing confetti with printed stars I punched out of a fine-print patriotic paper. The paper is available below for a free download.

I also used THIS star-shaped paper punch I grabbed over on Amazon (it's my favorite craft punch brand). And THIS shiny confetti to mix in with my punched stars (also available on Amazon).

I specifically made the above design to use in the confetti. It's a much smaller print than standard scrapbook paper...making it ideal for punching out confetti.

Cut the paper into 1" strips and punch, punch, punch.

Mix with the sparkly confetti and it's a fun little party.

To assemble the Patriotic Glassine Confetti Packets, you can grab the free printable CELEBRATE tags below, some thread, and your confetti...and your favorite roll of wax paper.

Cut your wax paper into 3"x5" rectangles.
You'll need two per packet.

It's easier to cut wax paper on a self healing mat with a craft knife and straight edge...it tends to rip and wrinkle with scissors. I busted out my quilting ruler thingy for this. 

Stack two wax paper rectangles on top of each other.

Stack the CELEBRATE tag on top of the wax paper stack. 

I used the zig zag stitch on my sewing machine to close the packets on three sides (leave one larger side open). Be super careful and make sure your machine is okay with stitching paper...you can end up with a birds' nest of thread if you're not careful.

I put the red thread in the bobbin and blue on top...then flipped my packets over to alternate the colors on the sides and top and bottom of the packets.

Fill with confetti and stitch up the open side.
