This 2016 free Printable Photo Calendar and DIY Display Board would make a perfect holiday gift for anyone. Or just make one for yourself...who doesn't want a fun calendar and cute way to display it?
I've got 2017 calendars listed at the bottom of this post, too.
I love sharing printables here on the blog, but today I'm sharing a tutorial for a DIY Display Board that you can use with all of your free printables. And I've got the calendar below for you to download, as well. Adding your own photos to it is such a fun way to personalize a gift or keepsake.

I'm on such a watercolor kick lately that I just had to make a calendar with it. And this display board...loving it. It's so simple to make and personalize. I'm actually thinking about doing three of them to display a fun grouping of printables together. It's nothing too fancy or complicated...but a sweet way to display with a lot of character.
I've got 2017 calendars listed at the bottom of this post, too.
I also have a new printer that helped big time with this one. The HP Envy 4512 All-in-One Printer/Copier/Scanner
is unlike any printer I've ever owned (and I've owned a lot of printers). Not only can I print with my computer (as usual), but I can now print out photos directly from my phone or tablet. Seriously. I connected to it directly with my phone and away I went.
These printers are available at Walmart, in the printer area with all of the electronics.
I also grabbed some HP photo paper to make my photos look even better.
I literally have almost 2,000 photos in my phone. Not 100% sure this is normal (yeah, it's not, I get that), but most of them end up staying in my phone. This printer makes my phone no longer a database, but rather a source of our memory sharing. Since setting this up last week, I've printed a couple of dozen photos off of my phone. It had been way too long since I had more than a digital photo in my hot little hand. There's something very sweet about having actual printed photos of my family and friends.
Every Christmas season, we share family photos with both of our families. I am usually uploading to the drugstore to hurry and print photos as we're trying to pack up and head out the door. This new capability that the HP Envy 4512 has is kind of rocking my world, y'all. After Breakfast with Santa this weekend, I came home and printed our Santa pics and framed them on the spot. That has never happened.
The printer has its own wifi connectivity, or can work with my home's wifi. I just connect in my settings and with the HP app I downloaded. The app walks me right through the printing process. Bada Bing. Bada Boom.
My device even lets me know when everything is done. I could actually be in another room and print a few photos off in the room where my printer is located...my phone or tablet will let me know when the printing is all finished. The end result looks really nice, too.
As someone who prints a lot of stuff (it kind of comes with the graphic design label), I appreciate that the HP ink can print twice as many high quality prints as an off-brand ink.
And this display board was very simple. I used a 1'x4' board and cut it to be 1'x10" with a saw (you can get four of these displays out of one board if you're making them for gifts). I sanded the edges to remove the roughness. Then I used a neutral color of paint on it (I used chalk paint).
Once it was dry, I lightly sanded the edges to make them look slightly worn. I used large, decorative, furniture tacks in each corner...being careful not to actually "catch" the paper with the point. I rested the printable inside the tacks, so it could be removed easily and switched out every month.
I attached the photo with photo corners. I could even switch out the photo every week if I wanted to...especially now that printing is such a piece of cake. These calendar designs are made to fit a 4x6 photo.
This printable is available in one downloadable file...it's 12 pages in all.
I've got 2017 calendars listed at the bottom of this post, too.
Want more cute things for your DIY Display Board?
Here are a few other printables (some are coloring pages) that are perfect for that:
Again, I think these boards are a perfect gift, too...grandparents would love one.
Especially if you include a calendar and 12 of your favorite family photos.
These stand up easily on their own, but you could easily add a wall hanger to the back, if you prefer.
What would you like to display on a board like this?
**2017 UPDATE: While I didn't do a photo calendar design for the upcoming year, I do have two other printable calendar options to use with this kind of display below:
