Labor Day Tablescape

Around here, this coming weekend marks the end of summer. This Labor Day Tablescape is the perfect way to celebrate and invite company over for a cookout or casual  meal.

Labor Day Tablescape: Easy, budget-friendly, and fun ideas for a great red, white, and blue tablescape to end the summer with. Free printable quotes and candle wraps/napkin rings, too!
Labor Day is that last little hurrah before the summer is over, no? In the US, it is intended to honor the American labor movement. To me, it's a great day to reflect on the fact that we are blessed with work. And many years into it, I'm so humbled to say that this blog has provided me with work that I absolutely love

Since it's still a summer holiday, I thought it would be fun to incorporate a bit more red, white, and blue into a simple Labor Day Tablescape that's perfect for a cookout or casual dinner with friends over. Living in a military community kind of gives me carte blanche to decorate in patriotic colors year round. Check out this entire tablescape below, including free printable candle wrappers and Labor Day quotes about work and inspiration.

Inspiration Monday

August is winding down and you know what that means...it's about to be pumpkin CRAZY in blogland (and Starbucks). In fact, we're already seeing lots of fun fall inspiration pop up at the party (as evidenced by today's features). It's so much fun when the seasons change...especially in the creative world. We can't wait to see what inspiring things YOU have been up to!

As always, you can link up on one blog and your creativity is seen across all eight.

This week's features (linked up at last week's party) were chosen by

Large Printable Lunch Notes

These large printable lunch notes are easy for little eyes to find in their lunch box!

Large Printable Lunch Notes: a larger size for littler hands and eyes to find easier! Perfect for your elementary or preschool kids' lunches.

I had a request to make a few larger sized lunch box notes for younger kiddos who can't always find the business-card sized ones in their boxes. These are significantly bigger and have super bold colors so they're easy to spot!

I'm actually sharing these over at the Rhodes Bake-N-Serv blog today...along with a fun semi-homemade lunch trick. Click here for all of the fun!

Cowboy Beans

This is a sponsored conversation written by me of behalf of Ball Park® brand. The opinions and text are all mine.

These Cowboy Beans are perfect for your next grillathon...they go perfectly with hot dogs.

Cowboy Beans Recipe: the perfect easy and delicious side dish for your next grill out.
One of my favorite grilling memories surrounds this dish. These Cowboy Beans were a bit of an accidental recipe one of my friends and I came up with on the fly...or so we thought. It was a hilarious time...that resulted in a delicious casserole that is well-loved and requested again and again. This casserole is the perfect side dish alongside Ball Park Park's Finest Hot Dogs at your own grillathon.

It's a bit of a family joke just how much my younger son loves olives. At every holiday gathering, an extra relish tray is pretty much set out just for him. I love sending olives in both of my kiddos' lunches, too...they're always guaranteed to be devoured! Below are a few of my favorite olive-packed lunches...with a fun new way to pack them. AND, there's an awesome giveaway for YOU to win some lunch money to your favorite grocery store, too!

Watermelon Smoothie

One last summery recipe to close out the season: Watermelon Smoothie!
It's something I want to enjoy all year long, y'all.

Watermelon Smoothie: a healthy, delicious summery treat.
I went whole hog this summer and bought a fancy blender...not the fancy fancy one...but the fancy one (know what I mean?). I've used about 5% of its functions at this point. It's just a bit overwhelming from the $5 Hamilton Beach one that I've had since college...in the nineties. But, it sure can whip up this watermelon smoothie in all of five seconds. Five seconds...how is this even possible? Check out the recipe below.

In the craziness that has been this summer, our master bedroom ended up getting a very unplanned makeover. It's not *totally* done. But, I am loving our new fireplace. See how easy it was to make over below (and check out the before pics, too).

Parent/Child Communication Journal (with printable covers)

As the school year gets underway, mornings take on a new look for us. My parent/child communication journal is now becoming a part of my routine...along with a big cup of coffee. Check out how I'm going to #createdelight this school year and grab your own journal covers to create your own journal with your child.

Parent/Child Communication Journal | Free printable journal covers in several colors for mom or dad.
This journal was not my original idea...it came from a lady I attended a church retreat with years ago. We were all swapping some of our favorite parenting ideas and she told us about the journal she shared with her preteen daughter. She talked about how much the lines of communication were opened with that journal and what an amazing tool it had been. Over the years, she had saved up dozens of these journals...filled to the brim with notes between all of her children and herself. They were treasures and she suggested all of us other moms try this idea. Now that my kids are of the age to really appreciate this kind of tool, I'm excited that we're starting to put it into play. See how this is becoming a part of my morning routines (and my kids' evening routines) below.
