Glittery and Graphic Heart Garland

This glittery and graphic heart garland is a simple,
yet glam way to bring some love into your Valentine's decor.

I've taken a different turn with my Valentine's decor this year. While my usual aqua and red would seem super appropriate, for some reason I was in the mood for black and white...and gold glitter! It's getting cray cray over here, y'all.

This garland is hanging from my mantle this year {can't wait to show you the whole shebang...pop back by Thursday to see it all}! I love how the sparkles from the glittery hearts shimmer and bounce all over the room. It's like we're living in Donna Summer's world. And I kind of like it.

I whipped these hearts out in no time on my Silhouette Cameo. At first I was stressing about buying a new {smaller-sized} hole punch to hang the hearts. Then I just designed them right into the file so the machine cut them. PERFECTION. What a friggin' timesaver. Have I mentioned my love affair with this machine? And would you believe this is the first non-vinyl project I've done? And you can bet I'll be back for more.

I created this file above that will cut a letter-sized paper. I did copy, paste and double the amount of hearts for the 12x12 glitter paper. If you'd like the above file, click here to download it. Keep in mind, this is a Silhouette file and will not work in other software.

I found this glammy glitter card stock at HobLob for just $1 a page {it was on sale last week}. It is definitely thicker, and you'll need to adjust your blade accordingly on your machine. I set mine on a seven and that seemed to work pretty well.

Once it cut the paper, I just popped the hearts {and their circles for the string} out. I was kind of blown away. It almost didn't occur to me to use this machine for this...I sometimes forget what all it's capable of. See below for an AWESOME deal on Silhouette products right now.

I strung the hearts onto black and white baker's twine. I wrapped the end of the twine in masking tape to give me a better point to string with. I also used the graphic dots as well as a reversed music pattern in regular scrapbook paper to add in some additional pattern and texture. They were cut with the same file that you can download above.

Ahhh...I think I'm officially addicted to this paper! Holy Glitter.

Can't wait to show you what I did on the above part of the mantle as well! Pop back in Thursday...it involves Dollar Tree items and engineering prints!

  6. I just found this post on pinterest. Love it!! I tried to use the same paper in my cameo (but cutting snowflakes) and it kept getting stuck then it would loose track of where it was and then it cut the top of my mat. Besides the depth of 7, what other settings did you use?
    Sincerely,
    Stacy

    1. Thanks so much for stopping by, Stacy! I set the blade to a 7. But, it's been so long that that is really all I remember. I do remember having to frequently blow excess glitter from the blade in the process. I know this isn't much help...I would play around on a scrap with small cutouts to figure out what works best for you!! :)
