These Free First Day of School Printable Posters are available from preschool all the way through high school (because even big kids *love* to hold first day of school printables, riiiiiiight?) These are the perfect way to celebrate your child's school year milestones. AND...I've UPDATED this post with new, alternate download links to make it easier to grab your free first day of school printables.
First Day of School Printable Posters

I now have quite a few sets of free first day of school printables here on the blog. This set is my original set. I created it in 2013, but it is still a tried and true reader favorite. You may also love my newer version of Free First Day of School Printables from 2016 (it uses less ink, but is just as adorable!). But, you can still download these original, reader-loved free First Day of School Printable Posters below.

Put the kids in their new school clothes and shoes, throw on the back backs, and grab your printable sign...it's almost the first day of school. And these first day of school pics are like adorable time capsules of those treasured days.
First Day of Kindergarten Printable
Most of these free First Day of School Printable Posters are vertical, however the Pre-K, Preschool, and Kindergarten versions of the design are actually horizontal (as pictured above). All of the posters are letter-sized (8.5"x11" or 11"x8.5").

A good tip for first day photos: if you plan to frame your sign for the photos, be sure to leave the glass out of the frame for this particular occasion. It will prevent a glare. I get a lot of questions regarding the above frame, as well. It was from Hobby Lobby (but several years back...womp-womp). Truly, any good 8x10 frame will work for your first day prints.

First Day of High School Printable
Not only are these first day of school printables a reader favorite, they have a coordinating last day of school printable set, too. It's so much fun to see the comparison between first and last day of school photos, isn't it? You can find the Last Day of School Printables here.

I adore how many of you have sent me photos of your kids, holding their first day of school signs over the years (just a few are pictured above)! Can we keep that fun up? Pretty please? Tag me on my Instagram account with @ishouldbemoppingthefloor. And while we're at it, let's add a hashtag, shall we? Share your photos on Instagram using #ishouldbemoppingthefloor. Obviously, this is optional...but it's so FUN to see all the kiddos on their big day.

(By sharing your photos with me in the above manners, you grant me permission to repost them on my social media channels and here on the blog. As pictured above, I watermark all photos of children in this manner, so they are not reproduced outside of this platform.)

How to Print and Use these First Day of School Printables:

  • Download your first day of school printables here or below. There are more specific links listed out for you below, to save a bit of time.
  • Once you've downloaded your print, print onto letter-sized white cardstock for the best results, even when framing. You can trim the printed piece before placing into your frame (if framing).
  • Print your printable using the BEST INK setting on your printer.
  • As I've mentioned a few times, it's fun to frame these for photos (again, it's best to leave the glass OUT of your frame to avoid glare in pics).
