These free boo-ing printables are perfect to attach to a fun basket this fall!
Surprise someone and let the fun begin.
Are you into the whole boo-ing craze? We love it at our house. But, this year, I thought it would be super fun to boo some of my own friends...with fun grown-up gifties and treats. The basket shown in this post has a fun coffee theme...my imagination was really brewing (pun intended) over all things coffee and fall and Halloween! Grab your free printables below to create a BOO basket of your own. There are prints for "I've Been Boo-ed" and "We've Been Boo-ed" in case you're boo-ing more than one person at a time.
And what's a coffee-themed basket without some homemade biscotti, y'all? I've included the recipe for this easy Pumpkin-Pecan Biscotti below, as well. I found the super cute burlap bag for my biscotti in the Target Dollar Spot, (where, at times, I feel like more of my money is spent than in any other part of the store. So. Much. Cuteness.).
Actually, errrrrrr-ything in this basket came from Target, including the actual basket (presh, no?). There are sooo many cute Halloween/fall items at Target right now...how could I not make a boo basket for a special friend? This polka dot basket was also in the Dollar Spot area. While I was over there, the orange and white (plus some black and white) baker's twine jumped in my buggy, too. Along with a set of the chalkboard labels I used on the biscotti bag (ummm, I kid you not about that cuteness), and the paper napkins and straws. Did you know there is also a small dollar area in the Halloween/seasonal section, too? Well played, Target. You have my heart.
My inspiration for this basket started with Target's Archer Farms Pumpkin Spice Coffee. I've always loved their coffees and I'm elated that they've added their own seasonal blends now, too. And look at that, I even got a gift card (because you know I bought three). I had to restock my own coffee jar. ;)
I also found some Archer Farms Espresso Snack Mix...perfect for my theme!
Target, come on. I mean...really. Could we be any more adorable? My friend will always have warm and cozy thoughts of me when she sips her pumpkin spice awesomeness out of this adorable mug.
And you know there's a whole line of these mugs...all kinds of adorableness.
I am pretty sure someone needs to go buy me the entire set for my coffee bar, right?
If you decide to put together a boo-ing basket, be sure to include an actual set of instructions for your recipient, too. They can copy these and use them for the friend(s) they're boo-ing. I like to attach twine to the door tag ahead of time...especially for someone who will be displaying this in an office setting (not everyone may have something to hang their tag on their door). The tag lets others know they've already been boo-ed...that way everyone has a chance to get boo-ed and it's easy to see who has already been hit. This works great in a neighborhood setting, office area, and so many more places.
Check out my video to see how fun it was to put this together:
So, let's talk about what the whole "Boo-ing" thing is. The concept is purely fun and friendly. The idea is to create a gift for someone and leave it for them anonymously. The instructions included let them know that they, too, must do the same for someone else...and keep it going (or boo-it-forward, if you will).
Above is my basket sitting on its recipient's desk. I was able to sneak into her office the night before and leave it for her. Hilariously, she knew right away it was me and texted me pretty fast the next day (I love you, Alice!). Then she texted me a day or so later to tell me how much fun she was having shopping for the basket she was making. I can't decide if it's more fun to give or receive these baskets...they're just a blast all around and can bring a smile to anyone's face.
Hoping my sweet friend, Alice, has a warm and cozy, pumpkin-spiced, polka-dotty fall with all of these little goodies!CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD THIS PRINTABLE.
Again, these are the instructions (for single recipients or groups/families). Remember to print two copies per basket that you create...one that you will cut and put on display, the other is for them to use as they boo-it-forward.
Oh and don't forget to grab this delicious biscotti recipe. It's perfect for fall!
Biscotti really isn't difficult to make...it just takes a bit of patience and hanging around the oven to flip it every so often so it gets nice and crunchy.
Pumpkin and Pecan Biscotti
- 2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons pumpkin pie spice
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 3/4 cup pumpkin puree (may use canned)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 large eggs
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper (don't skimp on this step), and preheat oven to 350 degrees.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, pumpkin pie spice, baking powder and salt. Stir in pecans and set aside.
In a large bowl using an electric mixer, combine brown sugar, pumpkin, vanilla, and eggs on low speed until thoroughly mixed. Slowly add the flour mixture until a thick dough begins to form.
Turn dough out onto your parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Form it into a long, flat rectangle, tapering the sides. Bake for 30 minutes.
Remove from oven and allow to cool to the touch (not longer than 15 minutes). Place rectangle onto a cutting board. Using a sharp, serrated knife, cut 1/2 pieces of biscotti. Lay each piece of biscotti flat on a clean sheet of parchment paper on the same cookie sheet. It's okay to place them somewhat close together...they will not spread. Bake for 45 minutes, flipping every 10-15 minutes, until nice and crisp.
Biscotti softens when dipped into coffee...the perfect (and really, only) way to enjoy this treat! I like to soak, rather than dip...to where it's *almost* falling apart.
It's also perfect for gift-giving, since it is so hearty and won't break apart in a package.
