Yay and hooray, y'all! It's my annual lunch box post...with fun, free (taco-themed) lunch box note printables. And of course, the lunch box idea I'm sharing this year surrounds all things taco, too...made with fresh and delicious foods!
This lunch box idea is actually geared for the older kiddos, which is the category we fall into these days. My boys still love bringing their lunches to school (even my middle schooler), so as they get older, I've gotten a bit more creative. This little taco lunch box is one of their favorites, yet. Check out all of its details (and grab the free printable lunch box notes) below.
Definitely theming it up a bit with this one. And you can totally send tacos in a lunch box on days other than Tuesday. But my youngest is definitely the Taco Tuesday purist and likes to keep it on the designated day. Instead of my usual lunch box notes, these also have the fun Taco Tuesday/fiesta spin on them. There are eight designs in this edition. Grab them at the end of the post.
Our taco-themed lunch box was very easy to put together. The best part? It works great using leftovers. I sautéed up some leftover chicken breasts with chopped red peppers and taco seasoning. Then I added black beans, tortillas, and all of the usual taco toppings. One of my kids makes legitimate tacos when I prepare this for his lunch box. The other kind of makes his own deconstructed taco situation...eating it all piece by piece. To each his own, right?
To balance out the spiciness of a taco lunch box (my kids like things hot!), I add in a carton of Vanilla Horizon® Yogurt and box of Horizon® Organic Chocolate Lowfat Milk.
I've been putting the Horizon® Milk Boxes into my kids' lunches for years. They're their favorites! These are really perfect for lunch boxes, snacks, travel and more (you can see in this post HERE how we bring them on road trips). They're a fantastic alternative to juice boxes. The special packaging locks in the yummy taste without refrigeration. My older son falls on the autism spectrum and has certain challenges with fine motor skills. He can't always open standard juice boxes or pouch drinks. The Horizon® Milk Boxes are one of the few items that he has no problem opening up every time. This makes it a win-win in my book.
The Horizon® Organic Yogurts have live and active cultures (something our pediatrician told us years ago to look for in yogurts). These are fun to mix with cereal and dried fruits for a quick breakfast on busy school mornings. They come in five flavors and are perfect for the lunch box or even as an after school snack.
We grab our Horizon® products at the local Walmart.
Look for these in the yogurt area of your Walmart.
Don't forget these fun and festive lunch notes...they'll bring a smile to your kiddo's face!
Can you pack my lunch everyday? :)
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious! Thank you for the prints!
