Mason Jar Pin Cushion

This Mason Jar Pin Cushion is the perfect craft for less than $5.
Easy to make and fun to give!

My creative monthly blogger group I'm in had a cool challenge this month of crafts that are under $5 each. I thought this pin cushion would be the perfect craft. Check out the easy tutorial below>>>

While I don't sew myself, I have a bunch of people in mind who would love this easy craft! It's perfect to store a sewing kit, buttons or whatever else you can think of.

The items I used for this were fabric {I bought some from the odds and ends pile for cheap, but also used some scrap I had on hand}, a mason jar {picked up mine for half off at Hob Lob}, batting {not going to lie...I buy an extra pillow about once a year for a few bucks and use the batting in it for craft projects all year...huge money saver!}, card board and glue sticks for a glue gun.

Use the inner lid to trace a circle onto your cardboard and cut it out.

Trace that circle onto the wrong side of your fabric, and then make an additional circle, about an inch larger than the original circle.

Sandwich batting between your fabric {now turned over} and your cardboard circle. I like a nice plump pin cushion, so I stuff as much as I can. Hot glue the fabric around the circle. Stuff a bit more batting before you seal the deal.

After your batting and fabric are secure, add a large glue dot to the "ugly" side of your fabric circle.

Glue your lid to the circle.

Pop the ring onto the circle and twist onto the jar.

Fill it up with FUN!

And check out all of the other bloggers involved in this group.
Lots of awesome, budget friendly projects>>>

  1. I made one of these about 2 years ago and it is still going strong. Definitely a must-do craft for anyone that sews.

  2. Great use for a mini mason jar. I made one of these years ago too. I think it's time to make some more.

  3. Super cute especially because it's a mason jar. Pinned :)

  4. This is the cutest little pin cushion and I love that you can store things in the bottom.

  5. This is darling! And would be a great gift too :)

  6. So cute and colorful. My mom would love this. She is always sticking her pins into the arms of the couch!
