Today's Living Room Christmas Decor post is brought to you
by Vickie's Gifts in Roscoe, Texas.
This space is the room I've been the most excited about decorating for the holidays. It was the room I fell head over heels in love with the first time we looked at this house. That mantel just did me in. It made me know I just really wanted to make this place our home. Check out how this decor came together below...with the help of a dear friend.
I met my friend, Koti, almost 12 years ago. We lived in the Texas panhandle at the same time and had babies about the same age...and we both loved decorating! We had such a fun time and I miss living close this this girl. We took a couple drives together and I was able to see her mom's beautiful shop in Roscoe at some point. Long story short, Koti eventually relocated and now runs Vickie's Gifts in Roscoe. Y'all...this store is over-the-top amazing...filled with home decor, adorable clothing, and much more. AND, not only did Koti provide a lot of the Christmas decor for my living room, she's also doing a giveaway at the end of this post!
I didn't want to do too much red in the room...even though red's my favorite,
I kind of wanted to do metallics, creams, whites, and what I call, "eggnog". ;)
I do have a little red in my sign, but that was somewhat of an afterthought to this space.
The fireplace has always been the big feature of this room (I mean...after we removed that swingin' 1970's wet bar, of course...what can compete with that?). I wanted this space to be super special this time of the year. It's filled with loads of textures and burlaps, gold, pinecones, and even cotton bolls.
Aren't the burlap and gold poinsettias just amazing?
This sign *almost* didn't make it into my holiday decor this year...it barely fits here.
I painted it a few years back. See its complete tutorial here.
This reindeer is also from Vicki's Gifts.
My tree-in-a-crock is in this room this year (I used it as our main tree last year).
I just love how it fits right up on the hearth. I tucked giant burlap maple leaves from Vickie's into its branches to give it texture. Then I did some fun glittery cotton bolls out of the top (also from Vickie's). The ornaments are all metallic or white.
These two trees are also from Vickie's.
I've had the lantern for years. It moves from the hearth to the porch constantly.
Vickie's has a large selection of gorgeous ornaments...like this one and the one below.
Stocking holders also from Vickie's.
In the background, you can see that I left up my linen striped drapes. I really debated on this one, y'all. I was raised in one of those "no linen after Labor day" homes...so, I had to get past that little issue to leave these up. But, I'm really happy I did. They're super light and airy and let a ton of light in here. This room is somewhat "trapped" in the middle of the house...the sunroom behind it is wonderful, but it does take some light away from this living room. I think these drapes keep it from feeling like a cave.
I added a couple of extra pillows to the hearth for the season. We're having several gatherings in the next few weeks here and people always seem to sit here. They always seem to grab my pillows from the couches to use in this space, so I thought I'd prevent that little scenario (wink).
I'm still not sure if this is the permanent spot for my latest junkin' find, but it's growing on me. I got this antique rocking horse for a steal at my favorite antique shop, recently. The fact that his eyes and ears are missing takes him a bit up the creepy scale, but I still love him. I added the greenery and my son proclaimed that "he won the race!".
On the couches, I bought inexpensive white and cream pillows from a discount store for the winter. I love a good winter white look...both in clothing and decor. The festive and fun pillows (like this fa la la la la one) are from Vickie's.
I really love the King of Kings one.
On the coffee table, I added some metallic ornaments and pine cones to my dough bowl.
I was really excited about decorating the built-ins, too.
I hadn't put my little village out in a couple of years...I really didn't have the space for it in our previous home. I'm so happy to have it back out. This isn't a fancy Christmas village or anything. My husband purchased a few of the pieces for it at a drugstore in Clovis, New Mexico when we lived up in the Texas panhandle. We grabbed a few more pieces in Lubbock and called it good. When my boys were little, they loved looking in the little windows of the village...they were both thrilled when I brought it back out this year. The ratio of snow to village houses here is slightly out of control, y'all.
My boys' Santa photos through the years are on display in the built-ins above the village.
I did have to slightly decorate my husband's desk, too. His main concern about the new decor was where on earth his highlighter collection was hidden. No worries, after photos, I'm sure he'll have this space back to *normal*.

ReplyDeleteGorgeous Christmas decor! "ratio of snow to village houses is slightly out of control" - LOVE it! My mom always put out her Christmas village with tons of the buffalo snow like you've done and I enjoyed seeing this as a reminder. We actually live in an area that can get that much snow (well almost) and it is fun to see.
ReplyDeleteThis looks so pretty! I really need to get myself together and start decorating for the holidays. It just makes the whole house feel more cozy and inviting for the whole family and guests also.
