Budget-Friendly Kids' Thanksgiving Table

This year, our kids' Thanksgiving table includes a couple of fun activities for the littles while they wait for the feast to be prepared. I grabbed all of the items (including craft supplies) for this kids' Thanksgiving table from the 99 Cent Only Store. This helped make this space super budget-friendly (but equally cute!).

My kids proudly announced yesterday that Thanksgiving break starts in less than two weeks. Holy moly...time to get to it, y'all! We are hosting the traditional Thanksgiving dinner for my side of the family on Thursday of that week, and then, our annual fun with part of my husband's side of the family on Friday. It will be a busy time, but loads of fun, as well. Both sides of our families have children in attendance, so this kids' Thanksgiving table is the perfect spot for them to enjoy the meal together and maybe make a craft ahead of time, too. Check out all of the fun below.

These napkin rings are the perfect craft for children to put together while the turkey is roasting. It gives them some ownership to their space for the feast, as well.

I know some of you are local readers. I shop at the 99 Cent Only Store in Waco, Texas. Click here to follow them for even more fun holiday ideas.

I grabbed several bags of felt leaves in the seasonal aisle at the 99

Then, just grab a few empty paper rolls to craft with. You'll also need regular glue, hot glue (and a hot glue gun for adult use only), and chenille stems. You can find all of these items much cheaper at the 99 than at the craft store. Shopping at the 99 is easier on my pocketbook than a traditional craft store...and the supplies are still fantastic to work with.

My son helped me create all of the napkin rings you see in today's post. He really enjoyed putting these together. We cut each paper roll in half and then down the back (essentially, "opening it"). With kids trying to finagle these on and off of napkins, it would have been difficult with a non-cut paper roll.

Using glue, simply layer the felt leaves onto the paper roll. Allow to dry completely. The kids can have fun with these and really make them their own. We mixed our colors up on each napkin roll, but you could also keep each napkin roll with one leaf color.

Once the glue on the leaves is dry, have an adult hot glue a chenille stem on the inside of the paper roll. This makes the napkin roll easy to attach to its napkin. I picked up chenille stems in the crafting aisle of the 99

I also went a little outside the box and purchased kitchen towels to use for napkins on our kids' Thanksgiving table. Honestly, I don't know why I didn't do this sooner, y'all. The traditional linen napkins I use on our regular table are antiques from my late uncle, and I'm always a bit on guard when the kids use them (the cranberry sauce!). But, these towels are perfect for their table (maybe even a few adults could use them, too!). Plus the 99 had such fun fall kitchen towel patterns. Again, these were a lot less expensive than at other places.

And don't the felt leaf napkin rings coordinate perfectly with these towels?

I used these same felt leaves from the 99 for a little fall hoop art, too (I flipped them over to the plain side). If you have teens at your kids' Thanksgiving table, this would be a fun activity for them. I glued my felt leaves to my base and did a blanket stitch with floss around the edges for some simple fall decor.

While I was at the 99, I also grabbed several gerbera daisy plants to use as a centerpiece on my kids' Thanksgiving Table. I always enjoy fresh flowers on a dinner table...even better when they're potted and last a bit!

And for our placemats, I found these nifty 11"x14" posterboards in the school supply aisle. I grabbed crayons, too, for all of the kids.

If kids aren't as into crafting, they can use their placemats and crayons for games and notes, instead.

Just like with the adult table, I like to add layers for interest. I found the table runners that coordinate with my kitchen towel "napkins" in the household area of my 99. I also grabbed burlap from the seasonal aisle, too. The roll of orange ribbon from the 99 was perfect to wrap the bases of my daisies for the table.

We portioned a bundle of crayons for each child's place setting (makes it easier for everyone to have their own). I love that the double-sided crayons mean they each have 10 colors to choose from.

I actually stumbled onto these adorable salt and pepper shaker foxes at my 99. They were in an end cap (see below). I grabbed two sets for our kids' Thanksgiving table.

The 99 is a great place to shop for all of your Thanksgiving goodies. If you prefer not to do loads (and loads and loads) of dishes after the big meal, their selection of fall paper-ware was perfection.

I also couldn't resist the sweet scarecrows in the seasonal aisle to add a fun touch to the backs of the chairs.

These make easy take-home favors, too!
