Vintage BINGO Card Banner

I'm sharing this fun and simple vintage BINGO card banner for this month's installment of the Thrifty Style Team. So happy to finally do something fun with this thrifty collection that I've had for a while.

Yay for another installment of the Thrifty Style Team...I get so inspired every month when we do this. This time, I created a banner with some vintage BINGO cards that I've had for well over a year from a junkin' trip in spring of 2015. I had gone with a friend to a vintage market and stumbled onto these under a random tent in a field. The lady was practically throwing these BINGO cards at me to try to get rid of them. I happily took them off her hands. I used some scrap fabric and twine and now have a fun little decoration for my office. Check out this quick project as well as my friends' projects below.

This team is always full of great ideas! Check out the links at the bottom of the post.

My mother-in-law was too kind to let me take some of her scrap fabrics for this one.

So...these BINGO cards. Y'all. I had high hopes of something holidayish or a cute display or just something truly extraordinary that would take the vintage decorating world by storm with these cards. I thought they were the find of the century. Turns out I brought them home and shoved them on the top shelf of my craft closet in the Walmart sack they were bought in. Then I packed them up and moved them to the new house's craft closet in March where they were slightly upgraded to a lower shelf where I saw them all the time and was constantly reminded that I sometimes have loftier expectations than I can truly accomplish.

But, I'm thankful to my friend, Julie, over at Redhead Can Decorate for organizing this monthly series...it gave me the motivation to finally do something pretty with m'BINGO cards.

I used my BINGO cards, scrap fabric from my kind mother-in-law, and twine for this one. Originally, I was going to cut the fabric with pinking shears...long story as to why that didn't happen. But, that would still be a super cute look if you'd like to try it.

I started by stacking my BINGO cards together and putting them in my vice in our garage. Then I used a clamp to hold them together at the top. Then I took a 1/4" drill bit and drilled holes in the top corners. I did all the cards at once since they were stacked. It made super quick work of this.
Then I strung the cards on a long piece of twine, running the twine behind the cards.

I cut my fabric into 16"x1" strips. I cut way too many strips, y'all. I'm sure these scraps will be the next addition to the top shelf of the craft closet. Oy. I'm really grateful to my MIL for letting me raid her fabric stash to get colors that coordinated with both the BINGO cards and the yellow on the back of the shelves in my office space. That red fabric with the white circles was a fabric she used to make my oldest's quilt when he was a baby. That was nearly twelve years ago...I was tickled to incorporate that fabric into the office now. We still have the sweet quilt she made for him way back then.

I tied three strips in a slip knot between the cards. And that's it.
This is one of those banners that can be as long as you'd like, based on the number of BINGO cards you use. And these BINGO cards seem to pop up in lots of thrift stores and vintage markets. Definitely keep your eyes peeled for them.

I hung my banner in my little office space (which is actually housed in the laundry room).

This little office closet of mine is starting to come together. I have lots of vintage office supplies and baskets on the shelves...so the banner fits right in with the vibe here. We took the bifold doors off of this space to open it up a bit. Actually, the people who laid our floors took them off...and then neglected to put them back on. But, I kind of like it without the doors now. I'm trying my hardest to keep it tidy, y'all.

To give you a bit of perspective on this space, my office closet is on the opposite wall of my washer and dryer. I painted the back of my shelves in my office space in yellow to coordinate with the shelves over on this wall above. Click here for the tutorial on the laundry room signs that I made. All I have left in this room is the curtains and cabinet pulls and it will be good to go!
