2015 Christmas Home Tour

I've brought a quirky, vintage vibe into our decor this year. Come check out our 2015 Christmas Home Tour.

I've added a lot of homemade signs, crafts, and a few junk store finds to this year's decor.
Check it all out below.>>>

2015 Christmas Home Tour

Merry Christmas and welcome to our home, friends! It's very comfy, lived-in, and a bit untidy at times. But we love its quirky vintageness...and tried to bring that in through the Christmas decor, too, this year.
Instead of our usual large tree in the living room, we went with three smaller(ish) trees. I say ish...because my husband actually got a bit carried away with the one in the entryway. But, I think it turned into the best Christmas tree mistake ever...it really fits very well right here. We have all of our most treasured ornaments on this one...the funky ones the kids made in Sunday school and those kinds of sentimental ones.

The Entryway

I painted my mirror (again) two days before Thanksgiving...having people over prompts me to get to all of those loose ends.

I made this little snow scene in my big jar, too. Can someone just teleport me there, please? Or whatever sci-fi form of transportation is needed to get me into a real-life version of this little vintage trailer?

Over on the other wall is a simple reindeer chalkboard with a couple of strand of pom pom garland.

The Living Area

The entryway kind of dumps you straight into the living room. I added the tree in the crock in here...the crock was probably one of my favorite junk store finds of all time.

I nestled my little "tree in a crock" up cozy with the fireplace.

I changed up the mantle completely, too. The large star was leftover from my now-eleven-year-old's "cowpoke" bedroom. It was one of the few things things I held onto when that room got a makeover this past summer (apparently, cowpoke bedding and coordinating decor isn't the thing for a preteen, y'all). I also made the SLEIGH RIDES sign out of a scrap board (I used the same method that I used on the JOY sign here). The window kind of moves between the dining room and this mantle all year long...I found it a couple of years ago at Round Top. The pom pom garland is also my fave (hey, hey, Target Dollar Spot)! The stockings will probably get hung on Christmas Eve this year, but we've sort of done it that way for a bit.

And...little trucks with trees, y'all! My vintage truck obsession is on steroids this year.

I have a vintage woody-car with a tree by my crock and JOY sign. Again, I shared my tutorial for the JOY sign last week...it has a trick to it to keep the letters super smooth with no paint bleeds. Check it out here.
I decorated this little tree with just red and white: lots of pom pom garland, my Santa ornaments that I've had for a while, and the JOY and mitten ornaments that I picked up at the dollar store. I worked for a florist for a bit, so I am always drawn to topping a tree with a big bow. The Santa Sack was from my mother-in-law a few years back.

I know...another old toy vehicle with a tree tied to it. I *may* have gotten a bit carried away.

Another Target Dollar Spot find over on the love seat.

I put my mom's old silk poinsettia into a vintage milk crate on top of my tv armoire. It was in a super 1985 basket thing that I couldn't quite handle, y'all. I'm a complete oxymoron...I love an old milk crate, but not a semi-old basket. I covered the basket up with the burlap.

I love to display my kids' yearly Santa photos on the piano...I'm seriously out of room, though. Not sure what I'll do next year and where we'll expand to. ;)

The Kitchen

In the kitchen, I have a vintage dump truck on the tray I keep on my island, along with a small cake plate and candle.

Above the microwave is seriously just a conglomeration of everything left in the decor box.

That little toy Ford pick up is the same kind/color my dad drove when I was a kid.

I pretty much tied a tree on anything with wheels this Christmas season...see my subway car? I'm totally sure that's how people carry their trees home on the 4 train, right?

My skinny, little kitchen tree has gold pinecones, beads, and crocheted snowflakes. I added the burlap to give it that vintage feel that everything else is covered with.

My coffee bar has more glasses and cups than are truly needed for anything...but I'm a complete dish collector. I also made the little soda shop sign this year, too. The glass cloche was filled with red ornaments and wine corks.

I also enjoy holiday-scented candles everywhere. I've gotten to where I purchase them at Ross or Marshall's and they're about half the price (if not less) than their original stickers. I'm sure they're last year's line, but they still smell like perfection to me.

The Dining Room

Over in the dining room, I tried to bring in a bit more red to go with all of the usual aqua. I used plaid, buffalo-check wrapping paper as a table runner. I bought a couple of rolls for when it gets spilled on.

In my box that we built/painted in the fall (see that tutorial here), I used red ornaments.

I made a little Christmas window out of one of my antique windows, a dollar store reindeer, and some gold vinyl dots.

My large Christmas tree farm sign landed over on my dining room shelves this year. I posted a tutorial on that here. I also pulled all of my Christmas dishes out...that just makes my heart go pitter patter! The crates I made for these shelves have numbers on one side and the North Pole "stamp" on this side.
And...another truck. :P

Master Bedroom

Fun and eclectic Christmas home tour with loads of vintage charm.
I seriously don't ever decorate our bedroom, but our new (old) headboard was crying for some wreathage, y'all. But this stupid wreath came crashing down (in the middle of the night, no less) and I about died. So, that was the end of that. But, the pillow is pretty innocent.

Wish I could have you all over in person for some Christmas cookies and coffee!
Hoping you all have the merriest of Christmases, y'all.
