My Boys' Rooms

Today, I'm a part of a really fun blog hop that's all about the BOYS! This week, we're celebrating "Boy Mom Madness" in all sorts of ways. Today, we're sharing our boys' bedrooms. I'm literally smack dab in the middle of a makeover of my older son's room (I was truly hoping to have it finished by today...however, it's been a doozy of a month). But, below is just a little look at the spaces they call their own. And of course, check out these GORGEOUS rooms from my boy mom bloggy friends, too.

My Boys' Rooms | Easy Ideas for boy bedrooms.
This week's series is so much fun! While my boys' rooms are somewhat simple, they're very special places in our homes. They're their havens. Their own little pieces of the world. While my older son's room hadn't been touched in six years (have mercy), I'm still showing the photos of the way it looked (before this month, when I started ripping into it. Literally.). Check out the fun below.

Inspiration Monday

I'm so happy you're here. Inspiration Monday is my favorite way to kick off a week. I've created my own craziness this past week (what's new, right?). I started ripping off wallpaper in my older son's room...and I'm still at it (have mercy). Hoping to start painting it asap! Will be sharing some plans for it later this week here (along with an awesome week filled to the brim with BOY projects...it's so fun, y'all!).

But first...LET'S GET THIS PARTY STARTED!
By linking up here, your project is seen on SEVEN blogs at the same time!

We have some BEAUTIFUL and full-of-spring features today.

Take Me to New York Free Printable

This Take Me to New York free printable is
the perfect way to express your empire state of mind!

Take Me to New York Free Printable

Last week, we did something a little crazy. We had been chatting about a family trip to NYC since I went there in October. A couple of months ago, we decided to wait to do it until summertime. We thought we'd tack on Niagara Falls and make a big NY state trip out of it...maybe even Canada, too. But, then we got a bit sad about not going in March (which is what our original plans had been). Three and a half days before spring break, I just went for it and booked the trip we had originally wanted. We're not really spontaneous people, so this was pretty crazy for us! But, wow...what a great decision (and we got an awesome last minute deal, too...score!). I created this printable out of my love for this incredible city. Download yours below.

Green Apple and Brie Boca Burgers

These Green Apple and Brie Boca Burgers are a delicious mouthful of yum.

Green Apple and Brie Boca Burgers Recipe
Are you a Boca burger person? I tried my first Boca burger over 12 years ago. A friend of mine was talking about how they had "Boca Fridays" at their house in the summertime. I tried one and was hooked...they're so delicious and full of protein, too. My husband and I have been enjoying Boca burgers on a very regular basis ever since then. And now I'm loving these new Boca Essentials, too.
I love them for my ongoing weight loss journey...they fit in perfectly with our new eating lifestyle.

Check out my recipe for Green Apple and Brie Boca Burgers below. You will love them!

Easy and Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole

This Easy and Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole is not only delicious, but also a cinch to put together. It's super Earth-friendly, too (just in time for Earth day next month)...it incorporates leftovers AND is an all in one dish! Chicken, rice, loads of veggies, and a crunchy cracker topping...what more can you want? It's easy to throw together in one dish (less to clean up and wash!).

This casserole is perfect to add to your repertoire of quick and easy dinner recipes. #MealtimeSolutions

Easy and Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole Recipe | Kids devour this one! Chicken, Rice, Broccoli and LOADS of yumminess!
I love a good double duty dish. It's great for my schedule and easier on resources. This dish fits the bill perfectly for that. Grill or bake chicken breasts, prepare rice and steam some broccoli one night for dinner...(make a double batch of everything). The next night, use your extras as a base for this delicious casserole. Less waste and easy prep equals perfection! Plus, who doesn't love a one-dish wonder? Check out this recipe for Easy and Cheesy Chicken and Rice Casserole below.

A Beautiful Mess: Behind the Scenes of a Lifestyle Blogger

Do you have a beautiful mess? I feel like I create one on a very regular basis...with my job. I love being a lifestyle blogger. It comes with so many fun perks...including a crazy mess from a good day's worth of work.
A Beautiful Mess: Behind the Scenes of a Creative Lifestyle Blogger
Over twelve years ago, I quit a job in the corporate world to move to a small town for my husband's career. At the time, there were no jobs in my field in this town, so I did freelance graphic design from home. After our kids were born, I continued freelance work off and on for several years. Eight years ago, we moved to central Texas and I expanded my business a bit by creating my own lines of cards, stationary, blog designs and more. In order to advertise my business more, I started this blog (I just celebrated four years here!). My youngest was about to start school. With my previous health history, I knew working outside the home was somewhat questionable. Even now that my cancer is completely in remission, I still am glued to the lifestyle working from home has brought me. I knew a blog could not only help me advertise my freelance work, but also give me a bit of a creative outlet for all of my other interests.

What started as a simple blog has turned into its own full-time job. I no longer do any freelance work...in fact, I actually love this even more. I'd love to say that I fly solo and run this show on my own, but, I'm no miracle worker. I have an incredible assistant, Gina, who is a God-send and does lots of behind the scenes stuff for me. I also have a wonderful family that is fully supportive of the craziness that is mom's job. Here's a peek at a day in my little world...messes and all (because, y'all...I love seeing others' real life...and sharing it, too!).

How to Paint a Porch Floor
Last summer, we worked like crazy to turn our really neglected back porch into a place we can actually enjoy (including a new DIY Firepit area, too). One of the first things we did was paint. From the ceiling down...we were amazed at how much paint transformed the porch area. Check out below our DIY on how to paint a porch floor.

These Easy Chocolate Waffles Topped with Mint Chocolate Chip Yogurt are a delicious touch of indulgence to either start your day with or enjoy as a treat to close it out.

Easy Chocolate Waffles Topped with Mint Chocolate Chip Yogurt
These new ice cream inspired yogurts from MΓΌller® have given me a little inspiration of my own. I thought it would be fun to make a deconstructed waffle cone of sorts...in the form of chocolate waffles topped with the mint chocolate chip flavored yogurt. I also loved topping waffles with something out of the ordinary... this was definitely a better-for-you alternative to the usual butter/syrup laden waffle. The new ice cream-inspired yogurts are the perfect indulgent treat and balance of taste and nutrition. They're awesome for a "me moment".

#NestleTollHouse #DelightFulls

Easy Chocolate Grasshopper Parfaits | A delicious, deconstructed take on the traditional Grasshopper Pie
Growing up, my mom always made Grasshopper Pie during the spring. It was perfect for St. Patrick's Day...or just welcoming warmer weather, in general. With its yummy creme de menthe, flavor, it was so fresh and delicious. I thought it would be fun to take these new Nestle Toll House DelightFulls Dark Chocolate Morsels with Mint Filling and make a deconstructed Grasshopper Pie...in the form of a parfait! These morsels really take this treat to the next level. I mixed them into the mint pudding layer, along with topping the entire treat with them. Check out the recipe below.

Green Tea-Infused Pecan Blondies

These Green Tea-Infused Brownies are the perfect St. Patrick's Day, or anytime, treat. Whip up a delicious batch today...they're easy to make!
Green Tea-Infused Pecan Blondies
I struggled with naming this treat. I mean, a blondie is a blond version of a classic brownie. So, if blondies are blond, and brownies are brown...should these be called greenies? While they're not a deep, rich green, they still have a hint of greenness in them. I'm still a bit undecided. But, I do know that whether they're green blondies or just plain greenies, they are absolutely yummy. I had fun infusing the tea into these with a trick I learned when we visited the Bigelow Tea Headquarters and test kitchens back in October (read all about that trip here). Check out the recipe below.

DIY Scrap Fabric Bunting
I originally posted this as a guest post on a blogger friend's site a year ago or so. However, whenever I host a party at the house or post a pic of this thing on Instagram, people ask how I made it. I thought it would be fun to include the tutorial (with some newer pics, too) over here for reference.

I’m over the moon in love with the whole bunting concept. It all started in college when my roommate’s mom made her some cute frayed fabric bunting for her window. She taught us a simple to trick to make it all vintage-y and fun…and frayed! Check out the tutorial below>>>
