Pear and Apple Crisp

This Pear and Apple Crisp is a mouthful of fall.

Pear and Apple Crisp | An easy-to-prepare fall dish that tastes and smells fantastic!

This Pear and Apple Crisp is something I fix a lot in the fall. It's warm and delicious and simple to prepare. It was a recipe I found in a church cookbook years ago {not sure I even have that cookbook anymore}. But, I've made it so many times, I just do it from memory now. I've always made it with I Can't Believe It's Not Butter! spread...making it a super easy dish as well. I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!®  was recently reformulated. It is now made from real, simple ingredients you can recognize. It includes a delicious blend of plant-based oils, purified water and a pinch of salt. Check out this recipe with it below.

It is really yummy! As always, the new I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!® is ready to spread straight out of the refrigerator, so there's no need to wait for it to soften.

This dish makes the house smell amazing as it's baking. While I know it's technically a dessert, I pass it off as a breakfast, too! It's so warm and homey...the perfect comfort food.

Pear and Apple Crisp

Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds apples, {Gala, Jonagold, or Honey Crisp are best for this recipe} peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 2 pounds Anjou pears, peeled, cored, and chopped
  • 1/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 cup I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® spread
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats {not instant}
  • 1 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp. ground nutmeg
  1. Directions:
  2. Combine apples, pears, 1/4 cup  brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg in a large bowl. Spoon into a 9x13" casserole dish, sprayed with cooking spray {when I photographed this recipe, I used a tart pan and a square 8x8" dish to make two crisps. No worries...we figured out something to do with both of them! Wink.}.
  3. Combine I Can’t Believe It’s Not Butter!® spread, 1 cup oats, 1 cup dark brown sugar, flours, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg in large bowl until blended {I just use the same bowl that the pears and apples were in}. Spread mixture over fruit in the pan. Bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 40 minutes until topping begins to brown and crisp. Allow to sit for ten minutes before serving.
  4. Goes great with a scoop of ice cream!
