These Green Tea-Infused Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies are such a fun twist on a classic cookie. They're the perfect holiday cookie...especially with a cup of tea.
Green Tea-Infused Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies
Are you a chocolate-chip cookie junkie like me? They're like the ultimate comfort food. My mom always made chocolate chip cookies the best...and I've tweaked her original recipe to add a bit of delicious Bigelow Green Tea to them. The flavor of the green tea just seems to enhance and really bring out all of the yummy flavors of the cookies. Check out the recipe below. They're a lovely twist on the original.

Not only does the Bigelow Green Tea really take these to cookie nirvana...so do the dark chocolate morsels. My mom always used semi-sweet chocolate chips. But the dark chocolate makes these kind of modern...and the oversized morsels instead of chips are pretty heavenly, too! I may have popped a few straight from the bag into my mouth. So good!

The cookies make a fabulous holiday gift...I just love food gifts {because nobody can ever have too many of those!}. Pair some cookies with Bigelow Tea and it's the ultimate gift. This beautiful Bigelow Tea Chest was given to me by my friends at Bigelow when I was there last month {details on that AMAZING trip can be seen here}. Wouldn't this make a fabulous gift for all of your tea-loving friends? It's truly a beautiful piece.

Not only can you order one of these for a friend {or for yourself}, you can also personalize the outside. How awesome is that? Check them out here on the Bigelow site.

Even before going to their headquarters last month, I've just always loved Bigelow Tea. Living in a city with the largest US Army post, I'm really drawn to Bigelow's Tea for Troops program. Almost four million bags of tea have been sent to troops overseas because of it. For more information on Bigelow's Tea for Troops program, click here.

I've got my beautiful tea chest all set up for our Thanksgiving dinner next week.
I gave it a special spot in my kitchen...conveniently next to my electric tea kettle and sugar bowl. Won't this be fun for guests to just help themselves to a variety of tea?

I may need to whip up some more cookies by then, too...they're disappearing awfully fast around here. I'm having to ration them out, y'all.

Ingredients:
  • 1 1/2 sticks salted butter
  • 5 bags Bigelow Classic Green Tea {remove tea from the tea bags}
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 (10 ounce) package dark chocolate morsels
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans

Directions:

You'll start by browning your butter in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until butter darkens and smells nice and nutty. Remove from heat and whisk in your tea leaves. Set this aside to let the flavors marry for about an hour.
Once your tea and browned butter are incorporated, strain the tea leaves out of the butter with a mesh strainer over a large bowl. Discard the tea leaves.
Add your vanilla and sugars to the butter and beat, with a mixer, until nice and fluffy, about five minutes on medium-high speed. Add in eggs and beat until incorporated.
Sift together your flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Add a little bit at a time of the flour mixture to the butter mixture, beating after each addition, until it's all mixed in. Do not overbeat.
Gently fold in the dark chocolate morsels and pecans.
Cover the bowl of cookie dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes to firm it up a bit.

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Drop cookie dough by the rounded tablespoon onto a parchment-lined cookie sheet, spacing each cookie about two inches apart. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until lightly golden. Cool on wire rack {although, they're amazing when warm and gooey!}.

So yummy. And these could be tinkered with even further using your own favorite blend of Bigelow tea. I think I may try the seasonal Salted Caramel flavor next...or maybe the Peppermint Bark for holiday baking {with peppermints instead of pecans}? Ohhhh...so many possibilities.  Bigelow Tea is an all-American company. They are 100% American made by an American Family. Available at an American Retailer:Walmart, where you can check out all of their flavor possibilities.
