DIY Spring Paper Flower Wreath

This DIY Spring Paper Flower Wreath is the
perfect way to welcome in the sunshine and warmer temperatures.

I wanted something a little different for a spring wreath this year. I'm really happy with the way this DIY Spring Paper Flower Wreath turned out! I can't decide if the colors or patterns are my favorite.

Here's how I did it>>>

I used ten sheets, total, of 12x12 patterned scrapbook paper to start with. Truthfully, I wanted navy and white chevron, but I couldn't find any, so aqua it was. I used a white styrofoam wreath form, orange crepe paper and gold brads {the ones from the office supply store}.

There are lots of ways to make paper flowers. You can use a punch from a craft store, cut them by hand {lots of tutorials on Pinterest for these} or...use your magic machine like I did {AKA, the Silhouette...LOVE that thing}. Details below on how to snag one for a great price this week.

I purchased a $.99 cut file for a stacked flower. There were literally hundreds to choose from in the Silhouette store. I bought one of the Lori Whitlock designs...I tend to gravitate toward her stuff.

I laid my flowers out in the software...five complete flowers per page {my flowers were made of four sets of graduated sizes of flower templates...so there were actually twenty pieces on each 12x12 page}. To get super technical, I ungrouped the last set on the page so I could spread each piece in different "blank" areas of the page...I just did this to squeeze one more flower out of each paper.

Then I pressed cut. You will need to set your blade to 2 with a speed of 6 and thickness of 26. I had to play around with the settings a bit, but these were the numbers that worked for me.

If you're still on the fence about getting one of these machines, now is a fabulous time to buy one. I can't say enough good things about mine. When it first arrived in the fall, I really only thought I would use it for the occasional vinyl project. Boy, was I wrong...I use it for EVERYTHING! I can't believe how much it does. I have the Cameo {the top machine in the graphic above} and use it several times a week for various projects and household items.

There's currently two separate bundles being offered at fantastic prices above, both include the Stamping Starter Kit, something I've been wanting for awhile. And both bundles come with cutting mats and dust covers!

There's also FREE SHIPPING on all orders over $25 to the lower 48 states. So, it's a perfect time to stock up on vinyl, sketch pens & other accessories!

You can order start shopping by clicking HERE and using code MOPPING at checkout to unlock these special deals.

Felt great to walk away from the machine for a few minutes and come back to have all of my flowers cut for me. I just peeled them off of my mat and stacked them into their forms.

I popped a brad into the middle of them into the hole that the machine cut for me. Repeat this process with all of your paper until you have dozens of pretty lil' flowers!

I wrapped my form with the crepe paper so it would blend into the wreath nicely. Crepe paper is a great alternative to ribbon...much cheaper for wreath covering. I glued it at the start and end pieces.

From here, it was smooth sailing. I just used the pointy end of the brad to poke the flowers all over the wreath. I left the back empty so it would lay flay against my door.

I added burlap ribbon and a bow for more texture. I just poked my flowers on top of the ribbon to keep it in place.

I really like how the gold of the brads dresses up the flowers a bit.

Come on, spring! We're ready for ya!

UPDATE: I received a question from a Facebook follower asking the total cost of this project. I spent $6 on the paper and $4 on the wreath form {the paper was half off at HobLob that week, which is a special they run regularly}. I had the brads and burlap on hand. And the flower template was $.99, as I mentioned above. So, less than $12, total.

Neglect your chores like me and don't miss a thing:
