Red and Green Bark

Looking for an easy, last minute holiday recipe that makes the perfect gift? This festive bark can't be beat...tangy, sweet and salty! The perfect combination.

My mom always made "filler" candy for the Christmas goody tins she gave out every year when I was growing up. Usually filler consisted of an easy bark recipe, similar to this one. It was something that was very easy to make and didn't use a lot of ingredients...but could make a significant amount of "filler".

Red and Green Bark

This Red and Green Bark is the perfect filler candy...but could easily hold its own in a goody tin, too! The colors are perfect for the holiday season.

Red and Green Bark Recipe

Ingredients

  • one {8 ounce} package of roasted and shelled pistachios {I used the Wonderful brand}
  • one {5 ounce} package of dried cranberries {I used the Craisins from Ocean Spray}
  • one {1 pound} package of white almond bark {vanilla flavored}

Directions

  • Melt the almond bark according to package directions.
  • Spread half of the melted bark onto a parchment-paper lined bar or cookie sheet, pushing it to the edges {it will be thin}.
  • Sprinkle half of the cranberries and pistachios on top of the melted bark.
  • Top with the remaining bark and sprinkle with the rest of the cranberries and pistachios.
  • You can lightly push some of the cranberries and pistachios into the bark if they look too "loose".
  • Refrigerate for a couple of hours until firm.
  • Break apart the bark...I just use my hands for this.

So simple, yet so yummy.
